At the 11th hour I've decided on a jaunt from Milton Keynes tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions for where's nice to go from here?

North on the A5 until you hit Towcester, and have a fry up at Jack's Hill Cafe.

FYI - as someone who frequents Jacks Hill a lot...

last time I looked they had a food hygiene rating of 3.

From Milton Keynes, from... Some of us actually live here so we have no choice but to start from here.

So, where did you go?

So many nice routes if you head out of MK.

I'd head south east via Woburn and then onto Toddington, Harlington, Barton le Clay then onto Hitchin via Hexton on the B655 (superb road) then pop through Letchworth being careful of the speed cameras, then onto Baldock and take the A507 over to Buntingford.
To get back to MK I'd double back along the A507, get on the A1 up to Sandy then cut across through Moggerhanger over to Bedford and on to MK.

Thanks guys. I ended up trying Jacks Hill Cafe, and being somewhat disappointed. No mention in comments or on their website they don't take cards, so was charged nearly £2 to get monies out from their cash machine. Then you have to get your own food from the counter. Traversing the entire length of the building in a toight one piece is not ideal. Then the sausages were pink in the middle and tasted like cheap Iceland specials. Staff not nearly as welcoming as the Super Sausage either. It was worth trying somewhere different but the SS has it pipped in almost every category.

Ridewise I popped back home for my intercom, and we headed off to Bicester, Oxford (where we ended up confused and in a bus/taxi only lane and likely ticketed Mad ), then on to Aylesbury and back along the A418 to MK. Not the greatest route, but good to get out. I then broke my tooth on a biscuit in the evening, so all in all a pretty crap Saturday Laughing

The Ace Cafe is actually better than Jacks now and worth the ride down.

Jacks must be really shite then!

Ace's food is average at best and the ride there from my direction is very bland. Not worth it imo.

The Super Sausage food is some of the best I've sampled in any cafe. Thumbs Up

If you haven't been for a while you will find it has definitely improved. Last few times I've gone down it's been relatively early, before the crowds arrive. Have no idea what they are like when it's really busy.

Do you go down via the A3 or out on the A40 to the M25 and down?
I've not been to Ryka's so I'm wondering if it's better to go through or round.

Just realised we're practically neighbours, I live in Ridgmont, 10 minutes away.

It seems there are a few of us in the area. I was at the Super Sausage again today as it happens. Lovely food. My double helping of baked beans added 5 bhp Laughing
