I was having a look on google for reviews about these brake pads and found there was a 7 year old thread on here about them, but figured I would start a new thread rather than dig that one up.

I got 2 sets of goldfren brake pads at the start of January and finally got 1 set fitted around the middle of January, since then I have done less than 1000 miles and I noticed today that they were almost down to bare metal (I know I was supposed to replace both sides at the same time, but there was still plenty of life in the set on the other side.... and still is), the caliper was caked with brake dust as well as the holes in the disc.

Is it possible this has just been a dodgy batch of pads as I've used them on a few of my bikes in the past and have never had this problem.

Pre post edit Rolling Eyes

When I was fitting the other "new" set, as I was wiggling the caliper in to place, I noticed the pads had already started crumbling Evil or Very Mad

I've never had trouble with them, and I've used them a fair bit.

Usually if your bike is chewing through brake pads it's because of a problem with the caliper (seizing) or the disc (grooved, worn out). When my old NTV had a knackered disc it was getting through a set of brake pads in 1000 miles.

I would suggest that the calliper on that side is seized to fuck...

I've used their sintered pads on every bike I've ever had and they have been long lasting and really good.

It quite possibly is, before I fitted the pads I stripped and replaced all the seals and cleaned the pistons which was a pain in the arse.... I'll buy new seals and have another bash though.

As I said I've used them on a few of my bikes and never had a problem, but with the crumbling as I was putting the caliper back in place I thought it could just be dodgy pads or something

If you can't find anything wrong with your calipers I wouldn't use that other set. I'd get 2 sets of different pads, replace them both and run it from there. Maybe keep the other set for an utter emergency but I wouldn't use them out of choice.

I've recently put them on my 250 Inazuma. Lots of mixed reviews, but for a boring commuter bike they seem as good as the stock items. I'm going to see how long they last and give an honest opinion of them when done as I said, so many different opinions on them and most of the negative ones seem to come from performance bike riders which may be obvious with cheaper pads and a powerful bike.

I've been using them on the ZX6 for about 3 years. Don't seem any different to more expensive ones I was using before that, they're good value in my opinion.
