Wireless Bluetooth audio speakers for your ski or snowboard helmet.
The Outdoor Tech Chips are high quality wireless Bluetooth headphones designed to be used with compatible ski and snowboard helmets. If you like to ride with your favourite tunes but are fed up with long cables and wires or terrible quality audio then the Outdoor Tech Chips are the answer.
The Chips wireless audio features only one cable to connect the two speakers together. The speakers will then connect to any Bluetooth enabled device including iPhones, iPods, Android phones, smartphones and many more. This then allows you to listen to all your favourite tunes. The simple 2 button setup on the Chips allows you to adjust volume, change tracks, play and pause music and even answer calls on selected smartphones. The button system is so easy that it can be sued with gloves on so there's no more messing around with getting your gloves on and off.
Features Include
Wireless Bluetooth connection to any Bluetooth enabled device
Play your music anywhere on the slopes
Simple 2 button design allows you to adjust volume, change tracks, play and pause music and answer calls
Smartphone compatibility with built in microphone for answering calls
Rechargeable lithium-ion battery gives up to 10 hours play time
280 Hour standby time on one charge
Sweat and water resistant
Tested to minus 20 degrees Celsius
Wireless up to 32 feet
Compatible with most major helmet brands.
not motorcycle specific, but same principle . |

Just did this to my lid the other week for commuting tunes.
I used one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017R3ZOPS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
And a pair of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002GAXWF2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
I've tried in-ear before but it paggers my ears on a long ride so the cheapy over ear Philips were perfect, they're really quite thin and just slotted in between the padding no problem. Bit of velcro to hold them in place and the whole job stays mounted when I take the lid off.
The bluetooth receiver thing is great, mounted it inside in front of my chin it's tiny. And the cool thing is, I can pause/play/turn on & off.....with my chin! USB rechargeable and lasts a week.
Sound is pretty decent too, certainly not stellar but perfectly acceptable and doesn't even lose too much to wind noise at 70+. Not bad at all for under 20 quid. ____________________ Current bikes: '08 VFR 800 VTEC(yo) , '07 ZZR1400 Winter hack: '95 Aprilia 650 Pegaso Currently lusting after: RC30 |

Above item has arrived and while it's sub zero outside and I can't test properly on the bike it seems to be fully functional and seems like a vast improvement on the Scala Rider that I had before. Time will tell I suppose but at less than £30 I'm happy |

How are you getting on with this unit? How is the sound quality?
I'm in the market for a Bluetooth headset but I'm undecided of which one to buy. I don't want to spend that kind of money on a Sena 20s which isn't waterproof. |

My 2p. Have been bimbling about for 2 years with a set of these (actually bought two sets, so I can rotate usage and charging under seat).
Sound quality wise, they are nothing like an in-ear set. But they are hassle free and I think, probably one of the best buys I've made for biking.
BT'd up to my Android phone and CoPilot (which has it's limitations, such as calling out roundabout exits by number, not by road number), but has meant I can design complicated runs down twisty back roads and crack on. Been away plenty of times camping and would have spent all my holidays lost if it weren't for these.
Charged they will play music constantly and issue SatNav commands for about 6 hours.
Sound quality for SatNav + phone calls is perfectly fine. For music it's very tinny. But using ear plugs ( e.a.r fx) it cuts out the treble and you can hear the bass and it sounds ok.
Very happy with them. Will buy another set when these break / the battery dies. |
