Random post.. just curious.

I been looking into litre naked bikes and am really liking the look of the Z1000 (2010/11) model. I had a sit on one recently and it felt great, perfect fit!

I've done a search and can't see any recent threads. So can anyone chime in with thoughts about this bike? Pros/Cons, known issues, etc. Not looking for suggestions to alternatives, just curious to know more about this particular bike in those years.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Haven't ridden any so I couldn't comment anything useful, but I've always preferred the looks of the Z800, or the later model Z750.

I'd love to know how they managed to make the Z800 heavier than the Z1000 though.

I've never ridden one so useless reply is useless. For what it's worth though I think they look bloody mint, and agree with OP one of the comfiest bikes ive ever sat on, stationary at least. I'm 5'11, slim to average build.

I had a 2011 model. Great bikes that are like two wheeled rally cars. Short geared and close ratio. Good for 155 in a straight line. Handling gets questionable at high speed but on country roads it's decent and hides it's weight well. Comfort wise they're good but I'd prefer wider bars. I felt like a praying mantis on it. Build quality isn't quite as good as earlier kawasakis but still fairly good. Very buzzy on the motorway though, you always end up looking for a 7th gear. No real known issues other than noisy clutch baskets but they aren't a problem, just a quirk. Tiny fuel tank and bad economy make for being friends with fuel stations.

Fun bikes though.

Standard exhaust is horribly restrictive. Changing the cans leads to a decent power gain. That's all I know about them. Don't they still use the old ZX9R lump?

The 03 is not like that but I do agree the next models do have a futuristicky look to them. Kind of like it's trying too hard to look cool.
