So been building my sv into a supertwin and had a mate who has done it before go keyless ignition for me using a Honda kill switch. All was well new battery fitted and bike was starting up fine for a few weeks. Went to start it again last weekend and the starter solenoid clicked and dash went out while bike tried to crank but couldn't. Charged up bakery and it started again fine until the next morning and it was completely drained.

I haven't got a multimeter but after this I noticed when turning on ignition the voltage dropped from 14.4 down to 11 and then when I hit the started dropped to 8 and the battery was fizzing so stopped straight away. Could there be a short that has caused this or is it a faulty battery. The bike sat for 2 or 3 weeks after battery was fitted and started again first time before the problems occurred. All I have done electrical is change the spark plugs so a bit lost here electrics aren't my strong point.

Cheers

You have a short, end off. Sort it before your bike goes up in flames. Hint firstly look in the areas your mate modified.

Thanks wont be doing anything until I have an idea what is happening battery is disconnected and being charged again. Im not clued up on electrics and where to start. The kill switch is wired in as the ignition as well with electrical connectors not just twisted together or anything and i'll be picking up a multimeter in the morning but i'm not sure what I should be doing or what to look out for or what to test.

My first guess would be a jammed or faulty starter motor, so check that first.
Second guess would be a short in the cable from the solenoid to the starter motor, so check that too.

When you get your multimeter, if you can get the bike started with a push, check the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine idling, and again at about 4,000 rpm.

I seen when searching about parasitic draws a small draw up to about 0.05a was acceptable. With new battery in idling was around 13 volts and at 4k 14.5

0.05A is not any close to 0.6A though. 0.6A is 600mA and that is a draw of a slightly underpowered smartphone charger. Thinking
