Anyone been and know a sensible wallet friendly way of staying and being close to some people and beers too? Is there camping if you only buy a sunday ticket?

I'm planning a trip down to the pyrenees in week commencing 9th May, joining up with a pal and off to the alps, then back.

Seeing as the GP is on the 8th, seems churlish not to leave on the 7th on the portsmouth ferry, and take in a bit of racing on the way.

Duly trundled off to booking.com and F me sideways two nights in a Le Mans hotel is north of £600 at its cheapest. Now I KNOW most motogp fans attending won't be blowing that many moths out of their wallets - where do they gather to drink and sleep?

The hotel let charleston is nice , I stay there a couple of times a year , next to the train station , undergound locked parking , you can jump on the train outside the station to the circuit , about €2.80 return .
I think it's good value but I've never tried for Moto go .

Could also try the hotel Concordia , looks expensive but good value again not sure on that weekend . Tram stop right outside to .

The camp sites are Fu*king mental , I walk round and laugh at the mental French but would never stay .
( from all the races I've attended but not moto go there )

Go for it tho , pics please

Chris

Very close to City Centre, cheap and secure parking.

We found this place purely by chance when six of us decided to go to the Froggy MotoGP a few years ago.The bossman had trained in London so spoke excellent English and he took every opportunity to sit and chat with us during and after our evening meal. The Calvados flowed freely that night
The rooms were clean, spacious and nicely presented and they made our stay as comfy as possible, even though we were on bikes, which were securely locked away in the courtyard at the back of the hotel overnight.
As for access to the circuit,it was a short 20 minute ride.
There were other places in the village to eat,so we had any enjoyable second evening challenging the locals to darts, snooker and arm wrestling, all of which the locals lost to us.But they were friendly enough after a few more beers and some of them even asked if we would be going back the following year, but she was not that good looking Wink Whistle

awesome thanks i'll check those out

i was thinking of the saturday overnighter from portsmouth to caen to cut down on hotels and riding time, but if you want a cabin it's almost as much and it'd be cutting it fine sunday.

so chunnel on saturday, slog to le mans, race on sunday, then monday down to the west coast somewhere, then andorra (ish) to meet up with a friend as he and his mrs set off on their ride to australia.

ride with them to the alps for a night in a villa, maybe stopping at aix to see an old friend, then ??? strasbourg? luxembourg?? i'll need to be back around calais by sunday night as monday is my last day off.

Fizzer - is there transport to the circuit from that hotel? I've found a couple of air bnbs in the city centre for similar money, but a friendly hotel might be a nicer vibe
