If you are after a GSXR600 you should try and find someone on here that has one and find out how good they are. Thumbs Up

Any 600 sports bike. They are much the same ride a few, decide which you prefer and buy.
For that sort of money your looking at something not much over 1 year old, local dealers will be packed full of plastic clad superbikes just wateing to be exchanged for your wedge of cash.

this may sound on the stupid side but ive seen some very very Very nice gixxer 750's

is insurance going to be really high

from what i read on here most people tend to like the gixxer 600 or the kwak 636

do you think garages/dealers will let me test ride these?

Maybe, maybe not. If you are looking at a specific 2nd hand bike then I would expect the dealer to let you test ride it before you bought it. If you are looking at a new bike then you may have trouble finding a dealer who: 1, has the particular model available as a demonstrator 2, is willing to let you loose on it.

All the sports 600's are pretty much the same, it comes down to whichever you find most comfortable, like the looks of best and can find a good deal on one.

Go to a bike shop and spend time sitting on the different bikes and talk to the salesmen about it rather than just walking in and asking for a testride as you want to give the impression that you're looking to buy from them rather than just using them for test rides.

Look at CBR600's, ZX6R's, R6's GSXR600/750's, older Fireblades are similar power. For that money you should be able to take your pick. Sit on whatever bikes they have in the showroom which appeal, once you've got a shortlist it's easier to raise constructive arguements for and against each bike rather than just in general for bikes in the 4-5k budget.

would a dealer let you ride an unrestricted bike on a restricted license though?

i assume they would ask to see your license

I love the Gixxer 750 but I'm 24, low crime area and bike is garaged...
I'm looking at £1200 TPFT for that bike....

Stick with a 600 sports, ride it well and it will be as quick as a 750. Oh, and I'm £360 TPFT for my Kwak.... Thumbs Up

Yes, H&R. The £360 I paid for my 600 was quite easily the cheapest quote I got by about £200. I've not bothered looking into 750cc insurance again but I think I'll build up my NCB before getting that Gixxer 750 that I've always wanted.... Very Happy

It really depends on the dealer and how likely they think they are to get money from you after you've riden it. Bigger main dealers will be more of a problem but smaller places are less of a problem. I test rode a 400 when I'd arrived on a NSR with L plates with no problems at a smaller garage,

well the 750 is out because insurance would just be too high and high crime area makes it even worse so 600 is the way to go

anyone have an idea on insurance on a 750 or anyone got a powerful bike and only about 18-22 and wont mind sharing how much your insurance is??

Is their an r1 lad like 19 or something on a yamaha r1 anybody know how much his insurance is?

Im getting quotes in the 4.5k territory which i know karma is going to hate me but is fucking bullshit!!

I know their online quotes but im still looking at a good 2-3k for insurance. Only reason why i want a gixxer750 is because its the ultimate bike, I will never have to buy another and Ive got the money now later I wont

Think R1-lad is 20 and his insurance was £1k if I think back. I'm sure I asked him myself.

I've been shopping about today for Gixxer 750 insurance (just on the off chance I do something stupid! Laughing ) and have managed to get it down to £588 with H&R. They will also take a payment of £80 till my policy runs out in July (very reasonable!) and then give me a new quote for the year come July......

Probably the £588 or close to it they have already quoted me today.

So tempted now Embarassed

^^^ Your quote about the Gixxer 750 being the ultimate bike, probably not, but it is in my eyes it is too!! Thumbs Up

(Oh, I'm 24 not in the 18-22 catagory)

Are you sure you want to sell your ZXR, bigger bike doesn’t necessarily mean more fun and you might never forgive yourself?
