Experiences of beers/ales, Ipas and the like

Been trying all these different beers from aldi, I've got bored with the same old lager

I've discovered fursty ferret, hobgoblin and March of the penguins which I enjoyed. I've also discovered cloudy German wheat beer which is pretty nice too makes a change from Budweiser.

I have discovered a few that taste a bit like flowers which was a bit gay and hipstery

Was wondering if people know of any hidden gems I could try next time I'm in the super market?

Ringwoods old thumper or 49er

Christ there are too many to list, get to tesco or morrisons as they usually have a decent selection and usually have them on 3 for a fiver

If you want to try something amazing, see if you can find a lager called Alhambra 1925. It's made by San Miguel, costs about £45 for a case of 24 but by fuck is it a good tasting beer. Best I've ever had. Have it super cold though.

I'm a huge fan of wheat beer like Hoegaarden.
And the German Weiss beers are fucking lush too. I had a slice of orange in one in a pub once and it gave it a nice tangy edge.

Mexican lagers are pretty good too. Sol/Corona/Victoria are all fantastic. Better in the sun though.

As for Ale... Well I had a little ale phase but it didn't last long.
The Iron Maiden beer is good. "Trooper" it's called.
Doom Bar is always a good go-to option.
Charles Wells' Banana Bread beer is fantastic too.

Otherwise there's some Fraoch heather beer doing the rounds that's pretty good, and Old Crafty Hen is lovely. The rest is much of a muchness, as duhawkz says just try them all. I've tried Trooper and didn't think much to it, and the Guinness West Indies Porter tastes like the ashes of a bonfire, but you have to make your own mind up on these things.

Cheers guys for the suggestions, I will try them all eventually it's just theres that many of them I was looking for a starting point.

I had an ale in wetherspoons called the devils leviation, it was really dark and had a kind of putrid taste to it. I tend to find the lighter ales are a bit easier to drink

My suggestion would be Fullers : London Pride as a brown beer Yum!

My local supermarket have been selling John Smiths from the Tadcaster Brewery and that is a good pint

Round here (Ipswich) we have Wherry as a light brown beer that is a nice pint.

marstons old empire (strong ipa)

sadlers Worcestershire sorcerer (my fav but not sure if its just local aldis have it as brewed about ten miles away)

I'm also a big fan of Weiss Beer (Erdinger preferably) but be careful with it. The yeast is good for digestion but a side effect is it can make you seriously flatulent.

Too many other beers to name and many of them are regional...
Try them all at least once.

my mate has just moved to deven

well six months now

he has visited the nearest 100 pubs since he has been there

over 80%of them only seemed to sell tribute or doombar

he has just started work as a brewery liaison officer for CAMRA

also if you are in midlands at all give black country ales a look

or cannon royale brewery

If you've never had Guinness before you should give it a go.
Draught preferably i don't really rate the extra cold stuff

Wasn't a fan of the Golden Hen (or Hoppy Hen if you see it) but have been tempted several times by the Guinness thing, yet never tried it - What do you think?

I'm currently trying some Admans Broadside due to the local Morrisons being sold out of Champion (people must be catching on??). It was nice for a start but the dry/burnt finish quickly becomes tiresome. Ah well, what's next in the fridge
