Ello.

The wife is talking about joining me on 2 wheels again, so a 125 is back on the shopping list. She's just under 6' with a 35" inside leg, so the normal CG/CBF/YBR fare (and clones) might be a tad small. She threw her leg over a Derbi Cross City last weekend, seemed an OK fit. I think the Varadero would be a good size too without being too off-road style; can anyone suggest anything else in a similar vein we should consider?

In b4 "take a full test and get a real bike", thanks.

Varadero or a motorcross bike. Very Happy

35" inside leg...Bet you've got some wicked highheel wounds on your back. Cool

I'm 6'1 with a 33/34 in inside leg and found the varadero very comfortable and like an overgrown mountain bike (in a good way)

I do now, having switched to a ZZR600 on a daily basis, comfortably fit onto a Honda CG / Yamaha YB now that I'm used to a more curled up riding position.

I couldn't go from the vara to the YB previously.

If only my legs were that long Crying or Very sad I'd be able to ride all the supermoto bikes I lust after. WR125, DT125x, but the best shout might be Itchy's (Derbi Terra).

Don't rule out a VanVan. I'm what - 5' 11" iirc. Yes, seat to peg and peg to ground is short - however the ergos are still somehow roomy, imo. And the seat is very broad of beam, esp. the further back you sit. I honestly reckon she'd get on one and feel "right". Bike's looks aren't for everyone but most people with a soft spot for two wheeled vehicles give them a second glance. Downside they can be sluggish if not shown some spurs on a gradient. Plus side the wide bars and seating etc. do easily provoke a smile. I could be tempted by the 200 in a few years time when there are some used e.g.s about.

I'm 5 feet 11 and rode a cg125 for about 8 months before doing my test.

Best thing she can do is visit some bike shops and sit on some bikes.

I'm 6'1 and rode a YBR125 for a year - it was comfortable but not as "stylish".

I now feel a lot more at home on the Varadero - I had a real problem finding much in the way of big 125s last summer so just had to snap up one that suited me.

Varadero if you can find/afford one has to be a good option.its a sought after modern cult 125, so the chances of loosing cash on a nice one are very slim too.

A poor man's Varadero option, but only if you can find one might be the Yamaha TDR, but nice clean tidy ones that havnt been bodged by 17yr olds are very rare. A good all round bigger 125 though IMO, and they will ride better on the road than any trail 125 too.

I'm 5'10" and a bit, depending on the time of day Wink

My first road bike, a DT125RE, tall enough for me. I'm old though and can just about manage to get my leg over it when its upright. Usually, I go all pussy and climb aboard when its still on the stand.

There have been some very nice looking 'X' models (the supermoto one) on the bay recently.
