hi,

so basically I tried to fuel a bike which is still not registered in the uk. The petrol station won't fuel it. I quickly realized that camera's are probably scanning a number plate ? Was affraid to go and investigate why it was not fueling.

Can you please advice what is going to happen now ? are my numbers being sent out to dvla ? am I in trouble ? Rolling Eyes

I'd imagine your bike will roll slowly to a halt.

Go and ask the till monkey pretty please. Put money down, or find another filling station or try a pay-at-the-pump.

Apathetic bloody planet.

thanks, but I am not worrying about bike running out of fuel. I will register it soon anyway. Just wondering if I am in trouble and if my numbers are sent to dvla already.

No petrol station I've ever been to ANPRs vehicles before authorising the pump. Are you sure you just didn't notice it said "please select option" on the pump. Some near me you have to tell it you want to pay inside, or the pump won't do anything.

How do you think johnny foreigner gets fuel if he's on a trip?

Just go to a different filling station and stop stressing.

thanks for your advice. but I was fueling before in this station and there is no options to select. As I've read petrol stations do have ANPRs to prevent fueling.. so I guess my plate was scanned. Not sure if this will be sent to dvla or not

They don't have ANPR to stop people driving off without paying.

I see no reason for the petrol station to even look at their CCTV footage.

Meh, go to another fuel station. If what you're saying is true, ANPR pinged you and you're going to get a knock at the door (if it's not registered in the UK how are they going to find you?) then Jonny foreigner would have problems getting fuel in this country.

Are you sure the pump jockey just wasn't on a piss break?
Did you go in and talk to them?

If they dispensed fuel before on this bike it suggests the bike and plate aren't a problem.

You seem very scared about having your plate scanned.

Which is it, no insurance? No licence?

I be confused.

If the bike is not registered, what information do you think the DVLA will have on the bike to connect it to you anyhow?

Petrol Station: "Hai DVLA. We have a bike with this number plate *** **** comes in and wants to fill, but we didn't let him as there was no record".

DVLA: "Hai back dudes, That seems to be a foreign plate, why wouldn't you let the poor man fill, he might be on his holidays? Oh and we don't have foreign plates on record you see, as they are not issued by us".

Petrol Station: "Hmph".

Yes I got your point. But I am about to register a bike in UK and I need to send off to DVLA all documents including bike registration EU document which obviously has *** **** number on it.
So if petrol station sent this info to DVLA and DVLA logged it into their system automatically maybe it will pop up on their screen when changing my registration to EU. They must somehow check and have access to EU registrated vehicles to know if it's stolen at least or not ? That's all that concerned me Smile

DVLA: "Dearest Marka01, the motorcycle you have sent in for registration was flagged on our system as being involved at an incident, where it was not allowed to refuel, due to some shit or another. Could you please explain why this could be, or pay this £100 fine for having a bad time with us?"

Marka01: "Hello DVLA, I did indeed take my motorised bicycle to the petroleum refilling depot you speak of, but I took it there on a trailer and unloaded it inside the confines of the Petroleum refilling depot, and therefore never used the public highways and as such are not required by law to have any legal documentation registered on it. As you would be aware, it is only when the bike has become registered to you, can you enforce the mandatory SORN requirements from me. Checkmate".

DVLA: Natch.

LOL !!! I will hire you as my lawer !

In fact I did find an article which says that petrol stations do have Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. And this article was written back in 2010. But all it does is just matches number plates with DVLA database to avoid filling in illegal vehicles with potiantial risk. Nothing is said about that they send info to dvla or track it real time. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/cctv-at-petrol-stations-will-automatically-stop-758518

It says it's "planned". No idea if it ever came into being. I would expect the government to make a big song and dance if it did. OP are you trolling or just super paranoid?

(Again no mention of foreign plates in that article, so we can assume their proposed system would just ignore them)

I was honestly paranoid. Came off the bike and went into the station to speak about it. But on the way though what if they call police to check me out or something. So I just ran back and drove off. Never been in such situation so why risk.

Nothing to fear.

OP - "The pump doesn't seem to be authorising"

Pump Jockey - "I'm called teh polices!?!?111"

Polices - " What's going on here"

OP" Bike is legal, petrol station called you"

Pump jockey "Because foreign plate"

Polices "..."

OP needs to get a fucking grip (sorry).
