The mother-in-law wants a new phone, touchscreen jobbie with Facebook type thing. I'm guessing Android is the way to go but what hardware?

£100 max price, any help would be greatly appreciated.

HTC One X. Similar to the S3, but cheaper, only about £55 to £60 on ebay.

S3 is an ok choice too, but you're paying more for a removable battery and a microSD slot, which I'm big fans of, but which I don't think are going to be used here.

I got my brother the LG Leon for Christmas. Around £80 on p+g, quite reasonable spec for the money, he's happy with it.

A touch over budget, but you wont find a better specced phone at anywhere near the price.

But for the purpose an HTC One X is about a third of the price and does the job equally well.

Anyway I've had my Xperia SP for a couple of years now and never really had any issues that restarting it didn't sort.... oh and look at this, there's 1 on ebay for £50 too:

It's a small crack and he says the phone works perfectly.

It's a small price for a great phone.

Your definition of small crack is different to mine, unless you're referring to the blow to the head you received before saying it.

Dude at work got a Chinese ebay special. £80 I think. Basically the same spec as a Samsung S5 (which I have).

It was a little slower, and the screen wasn't quite as pin sharp. But it was 5x less expensive! I will be getting one next time when this phone dies and I'm out of contract.

So what model was it......I forgot Rolling Eyes

EDIT:

Some links
Get a list of manufacturers

See if others thought they were ok

Its fucked bits of the glass are probably starting to fall out.

On my moto G the screen is really easy to change, you just pop it out with a knife and glue the new one in. I'm not sure if they are as easy on Oneplus, but it just isn't cheap enough to bother trying when you can get a new one for not a lot more.

Huawei p8 lite are a decent phone, they just feel a bit lite compared to more premium stuff.

eight core snapdragon cpu iirc, 2gb ram either 16gb rom, dual sim, sd card slot doubles as 2nd sim slot (1x nano 1x micro), 720p screen decent camera's etc, don't let the name fool you Huawei make branded phones for loads of retailers.

the next nexus phones will be by them too rom reports online.

https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p8lite-7201.php

I'm pretty sure both dad and bro paid less than £100 each for theirs.
