i want to clean my motorcycle helmet as its getting a bit dirty and fusty inside but the insides are not removable how do you go about washing it as i wasnt sure if the glue thats holds the liner in would withstand a good dunking in warm soapy water Confused

Use a wet cloth and wipe. Don't use anything on it, it could bugger the polysteyrene. Then leave it in the airing cupboard to fully dry it.

I read a suggestion before about using a small amount of baby shampoo and warm water. But, as you say you're not sure about the quality of the adhesive, the baby wipes may be your only option.

I have taken advice and tested it also from this forum before where you take your helmet into the shower with you, give it a darn good soaking and wash the inside of it with mild baby shampoo. The give it a good rinsing out, leave it somewhere warm (such as an airing cupboard) for a few days/week and bobs your uncle, you've got a clean helmet interior.

im a builder and use the bike for work so the mixture of loads of muck n dust plus rain doesnt do much for the inside of the helmet when putting on and taking off several times a day although i could take a bottle of shampoo to work and use the hose Idea

I found this Motrax Helmet Sanitizer whilst browsing their catalogue, I've no idea if it's any good as I haven't tried it but I thought you might like to know about it.

Do people still wash/clean their crash helmets now-a-days or was that just something that was done many years ago?

Never washed the inside of mine, doesn't smell at all, perhaps it has anti bacteria pads in there or most likely I don't sweat with it on.

got some helmet cleaning spray, good stuff, just spray it all over, leave for a few seconds and then wipe it clean.

for insides i remove the linings and wash by hand every now and again.

i wear a thin balaclava thingy to stop my head sweat and hairs etc.

Got to have a clean helmet Very Happy
