Not seen this mentioned anywhere yet but BMW have the G310R listed on their website

No price listed yet but supposedly in dealers by end of 2016. Listed as 25kw and 158kg so sounding heavy/underpowered as per quite a few of the bikes in this class

Lardier than a Duke 390, with less than 80% of the power and torques. Can't see why they're bothering, unless it's cheaper, which I very much doubt.

Because BMW quality and all that. Or at least that's what the MCN review will inevitably say.

That new BMW is heavier than my old 650 xCountry when it was filled to the birm with fuel.

I recently rode a 390 duke and hated it, but I can see it being a rocketship if you're coming from a 125.

Worth noting that of KTM/Husky/BMW, the BMW sales person was the least annoying-pushy-sales and the one that was most actually trying to help me find good information about the bike most suited to me.

For sure, the pre-sales experience is a large part of why I have a BMW.

But I don't have a G650GS and I doubt I'll have a G310R either, unless it's at Indian prices.

I don't believe that UK Motorrad dealers actually want plebs in looking at their cheapo range. If it looks like you can't afford the (often expensive) servicing then it's hardly worth the few quid they get by selling a sub £8k bike.

I own two BMW bikes.
Do not expect them to be trouble free.
Do consider buying BMW extended warranty as if/when they have any issue after the three year dealer OEM support you will be stuffed.

Extended warranty will screw you for about £400/annum.

I have owned four BMW bikes and will NEVER buy another (or have BMW service the two I currently own).

BMW cars are far better supported and bikes are the dodgy cousins that they 'have' to invite to the wedding.

I popped into the BMW dealer near me a while back. All of the punters there were looking to buy new on PCP deals, and upgrade in 3 years & 5000 miles time when they became unreliable.

I didn't look like the sort of person who wanted to spunk £300 a month on a bike (As I'm not) so the dealer wasn't interested

I like my BMW, but I wouldn't recommend one to a new rider for the same reasons as MCN. Mechanically, my R1200R has been reliable but this morning an entire chunk of powder coating dropped off the gearbox, so I think the finish might be going the way of MCN's K13.

That and the more I look at the G310, the less interesting it looks. It looks like a Honda.

I had the sump (woven from Tagliatelle al dente) replaced on my S1000RR @5500 miles due to the drain plug hole dissolving. A common problem with their flagship WSB. Pahh...
Not warranty Sir, give us 120 something pounds please.

That was the last straw.
