Yeah it's the same, so when you see a wet drain cover, it's not a hazard, as I found out...

Nor are the children playing football by the road. They're only a hazard WHEN the ball rolls into the road.

The best advice I can give you on the hazard perception (backed up by fellow forum posters in threads here) is to use the two click method.
You cant get penalised for over clicking inside the time frame for clicking, so if you see a hazard early, you might click too early, giving a total fail for the clip, scoring 0 points.
If you click, then wait a second and click again, or even hit a third, then you will only get one fail score (you're allowed up to 7) per clip, as the first may register outside, but the following click(s), will be inside the scoring zone and your first click will be the one that scores, which will be a perfect 5.

Doing this method spun my scores on around on the first try and made me pass every time with flying colours (68/75 points on my test).

I agree totally with this. 2 clicks worked well for me, and after only a couple of hours practice online I got 65/75. Just remember, it's about a developing hazard, not a potential hazard...... Simples!! Good luck

Just sat the UK version this morning.

Much to my relief, I passed. Managed 47 on the theory and 64 on the hazard perception part. Clicked too many times on the last clip apparently and scored nowt because of this.

I'll be booking my Mods 1 & 2 later today. Bounce!

Is the Hazard perception test the same for motorcycles as it is for the car one? I'm looking for vids but none seem to mention motorcycles so I assume they intend it for the car theory??

I bought the official DVSA motorbike theory guide and hazard perception DVD (and never used them)

If you want them I'm more than happy to send them to you

I had a similar wait when I first tried to book mine; keep checking it as often as you can and you might be able to snap up some cancellations.

That's what I'm hoping.

Plan B is to hire a van and get a mate to drive me to a test centre somewhere else, as there are a few within a 50 mile radius or so, with much less waiting times.

Can't you find a school near a test center with a earlier date and just hire one of their bikes or maybe book a hour ride beforehand with them to scope out the route? It's a long wait, I feel for you, waiting sucks.. check the cancellations tho, they came up quiet a lot when I did my mod2 .. The sec time around Embarassed I had to turn a couple down because of work but I got a call from my instructor every week as I remember, but then again these may have being mod 1 fails passing over the mod2's so mod 1 cancellations may be rarer, good luck anyhow and congrats on the theory pass Thumbs Up

Looking at hiring a van and getting a mate to drive me and the bike to another test centre at the moment, as that seems the best option, for mod 1 anyway. Going to speak to my instructor about mod 2 tests, as he should have an idea as to how often mod 2 cancellations come up. As I'd obviously prefer to do it on a route I'm familiar with. Otherwise it's going to be a case of putting the bike in the back of a van again.

These are the numbers on cancellations from the DVSA, which I find hard to believe for several reasons.

https://i.imgur.com/TQQtLUs.png?1

First, it shows more mod 1 cancellations by trainers than mod 2. That's the opposite of what you'd expect, unless... hmm... unless the sods are block booking loads just to shut out other schools. Which I believe was the purpose of my FOI.

Second, I find it hard to believe that nobody tries to cancel a test with under 2 days notice. That looks to me like DVSA tells them that they won't get a refund, doesn't record the cancellation, then records it as a DVSA "0-day cancellation" when they're don't show.

tl;dr summary - call the local test centre, ask if they get a lot of no-shows on the day, and whether you could just turn up and hope for the best.

Looking at the next dates available at most of the centres within a 60 mile radius of my area, I must admit that I too had a suspicion that some schools are block booking too.

My schools closed this week due to the grand national at Aintree but, will have a word with them to see what the score is on my chances of getting an earlier cancellation at St Helens.

Thanks for the above info btw. Makes intresting reading. Thumbs Up
