Hello, I am trying to find a replacement Carb to Head pipe for my friends 1983 CB250RS. Does anyone have any ideas on where to get one from or is there one from another bike that would fit?

I have tried a few places like david silver, cmsnl but they don't have it in stock.

Thankyou

Not a chance. The original has been out of production for about 20 years. The XL250 one is too short.

If you still have the original but it's knackered, your best best is to use it as a template to make one. The bottom plate that clamps onto the head should be ok, then it's a case of finding some hose the right diameter and glueing it in place.

Remove the knackered rubber hose, get the bottom plate very clean, then glue on some appropriate hose with a strong, slow setting epoxy. Remember to replace the sealing ring O ring between the head and the bottom plate.

The alternative would be to weld/braze a collar onto the bottom plate (which I think it steel, but may be alloy) and then use a bit of hose with a couple of clamps to attach the carb.

Once you've been through the pain of making this particular part, never open the bottom end of the engine on a whim. The neutral light switch on the gearchange assembly is also no longer available and will fall apart if you try to dismantle it. I had the last one in the country a few years ago, sold it to a guy in New Zealand.
