Quite a lot of chat in Geek Zone about Kodi (ex XBMC) and streaming tv boxes.

Since putting Kodi on my Amazon TV Stick I've started rewatching the tv programmes I liked as a youngun.

Am currently working through Blake's 7 which will probably be followed by UFO. Original Survivors and maybe Doomwatch after that.

Am also watching Archer from the beginning.

What are you watching on yours?

Currently I have (off the top of my head):

Arrow, The Flash, Legends of tomorrow, The 100, Lucifer, 24, Family guy, The X files, Monkey.... umm..... Friends, Mythbusters, How it's made..... eeehhhhh..... The A team, Wentworth, Better call Saul, breaking bad on my favourites list (and probably a few I've forgot)

One of my friends has a couple of hundred different shows on his list though

Usual cunfusdotcom pishstrom from the Caprio.

Stutter Island was the same sort of drivel.


As far as the sticks go and Kodi....

I think it depends on the quality of the programme being streamed. The Revenant sound quality was Baaad. Picture was acceptable but dialogue almost impossible to hear. And if the volume was racked up the dialogue was loud and distorted.

The sticks are worth the £ I chose the £75 one with more memory.

The re is also a limitation based on your ISP if you are on a slow connection then quality can be affected.

There are work-arounds online if you can be arsed trawling through the mire of online info and forums.

I like my Fire stick (Which is really a box).

I didn't gel well with XBMC when I used to have it on my PC/Laptop. I personally just prefer to download stuff and keep it on my HDD until I've watched it and find something else.

I tend to go through shows like Men Behaving Badly, Only Fools, Blackadder, Porridge, I'm Alan Partridge and the like as background noise when I'm on my PC.

I still need to finish season 3 of Hannibal, and finish Better Call Saul, which I've been putting off for a while. But I'm not really huge on watching TV.

They're not bad. Speed is ok, they plug directly into the HDMI so out of sight and have a wireless remote - not infrared - so you don't need line of sight.

I got mine to view Amazon Prime before realising it'd run Kodi, so that was a bonus for me.

Also, as MCN said, you can easily take it with you anywhere and use it as long as you have wifi and a HDMI socket.

Can't go wrong for £35.

Have you tried using your TV remote? I don't know much about the firesticks, but if your TV is new enough it will support sending controls from the TV to the HDMI device via CEC. However whether Amazon implemented that on to their firesticks I don't know.

I know OSMC supports it on the pi, but my TV is too old to support it Very Happy

Pretty sure all my other remotes (apart from the Squeezebox) are IR.

My Sony tablet has a multi remote proggy on it though. Could give that a go.

If I had known about Kodi before I signed up to Prime I wouldn't haver bothered. Kodi is pretty much all we watch now even over Sky.

Well worth it for us and even have a second Amazon stick on the other TV with Kodi too.
