I like the esoteric starting drill.

Fuel on, choke to fully rich, tickle carb, ignition on, ease up to compression, decompressor in, ease over compression until ammeter dips then returns, release decompressor, engage kickstart at top of arc, swing over to bottom of arc.

For the DRZ the main feature is the fact it's a ~15 year old bike design that still looks decent enough even today. Reliable, easy to work on/maintain, dash was ahead of it's time, digital with stop watch/timers/2 trip counters/time etc. Massive amount of aftermarket parts, spares, upgrades galore.

Love about my bike, nothing. I'd be hard pressed to say that I like anything. Accurately would be to say that I tolerate it.

Chinese 125.

To find something, anything in fact to add a as a contribution towards the direction that the thread was made to go towards would be the cost, or rather the very little involved. Services have never cost me more than seventy ponds (dealer) and parts are readily available to order to your doorstep from various websites / fleebay and all at low cost with fast delivery available so if you (and I'm probably not for the most part) someone of whom could diagnose a fault, order a part and then fit in all in a couple of day period would enable you to be back on the road as a commuter without much inconvenience and not really pinching the wallet.

The fact it's a naked, there are negatives to this given that it suffers in winds on exposed stretches of roads and with little power is a pain in the rear but does have its good points. Easier to secure. Easier to work on etc.

I'd say it's served me well as a first bike for the most part. Enabled me to learn a fair bit. Survived the pilot's terrible riding many times over. Has had many small annoying niggles and times of poor running but has never really cost me anything to fix or had any major dramas for the most part.

Do want to swap to a 500cc come renewal.

Don't mind me, Smile

Anyway, I'm selling my P1 at the moment (yes, yet again), I'm not really a sentimental person. There are motorcycles I'd like to have to keep, but you know what they say, one should never meet his heroes. The ZX7R is quite nice actually, the best motorcycle I've owned, so far, which only means there's is more to see and try. Wink

Like the sound it makes, the handling, and despite being not that powerful it still feels quick... I think cos it gives you all it has straight away Smile

Since improving the fueling and fitting narrower bars, I'm really liking it. Wouldn't mind something a bit lighter but atm it's doing everything I ask of it.

It feels quick considering its age and weight the power rev range is right at the end and does actually feel nice, awesome mirrors that give a great view around you. I can also get on it and just ride without worrying about chain or pretty much else normally.

Might switch back to SBS pads I prefer the general feel compared to Galfers.

I like the heated seats, electric windscreen and the radio. I also like that for a 300kg bike it handles well and at 100mph the wind protection is so good you can relax with no buffeting. Thumbs Up

I like that my bike is pennies to run and keep, yet accelerates faster than most cars on the road Laughing

It's a torque train, doesn't feel like it will run out of power, even in 6th gear on the motorway and you crack the throttle open, it just goes.

Probably the most planted bike I've ridden, just feels solid like it's on a rails.

With the electronics all turned on, it's confidence inspiring and turning them all off, it scares you to death Thumbs Up

There's one bike in my collection that I cannot rationalise as to why I have it.

Some days it seems like a complete waste of space / blood / sweat / tears / time / patience / sanity / money.

Other days I cannot imagine anything closer to my idea of perfection.

The sound and smell and general anti socialness of my 2stroke, and the fact that it fills the yard with blue smoke that stinks in the most pleasant way.

Other than that cos it's an 80's 2stroke, I'm sure I'd be just as hard for an NS400, RD500 or an RM500 etc.

Like my car too for being noisy, smelling of fuel and making silly pssssht noises when driving it.

I'd be just as happy with a big V6 outboard motor to start up in the garage or a big cc chainsaw with a spannie fitted though! Laughing

Quite like the kick at 7.5k (dynojetted fzs600), the tank range and practicality in general, but honestly now I've my zx9r back, I'm itching to flog it on and get back on the 9.

With the Striple, the flickability on tight, twisty little roads. And it's hooligan character. Sometimes. Eager and loud, it just eggs me on. But riding around the Lake District today, it was a bit embarrassing. I always imagine all the people I pass, hikers, cyclists, families out enjoying the scenery, must be thinking, "what a noisy bastard!" Even at 20mph, it probably sounds to them like it's doing a ton. Maybe I need a third bike Thinking

With the Fazer, it's sheer stonk, and the way the upgraded suspension just deals with any road surface that gets thrown at it. It's comfort for a long day in the saddle. It's brilliant on fast, winding A roads, where you can commit to a bend and just keep winding it on. Just a fantastic all-rounder really.

I get it, especially with the 7R. Had a ZXR 750 J1 with the Hoover pipes back in the day and that was the bike I loved more than any other. I have no idea why because the handling is challenging, the riding position crippling and the acceleration isn't wow. There's something about it...

Otherwise, I bought a BMW K1300 GT and love it. It 'feel's incredible. Just amazing. And I love I can ride it all day at long distances sitting comfortably at triple digit speeds (on German Autobahns, naturally...) And I loved BMW reliability...

...right until the front and rear suspension failed, the bevel ate itself, the 'usual' problem around the cooling system reared its ugly head as well as the switchgear. Other than that, BMW reliability... legendary... Crying or Very sad
