Hi

Are these any good? Specifically leather jackets with armour.

Got my eye on one for summer but know nothing of the brand's quality and can't find a local stockist

Cheers

Supposedly very high quality complete with very high price but as always depends on spec.

I used to work at a place that sold the stuff, but it was quite a while ago now. It certainly was good quality, but you paid for that for sure. They were very innovative back then (early 2000s), and had some intriguing methods for dealing with cold and crash protection, some of which I have now seen in other brands, but were original back then. I tend to think of them as on a par with Rukka, but not sure what they're really like now.

I saw them at the NEC Bike show a few years ago, and really liked the stuff, but it cost a little bit too much for me.

If money was no object, I would be all over it like a fat kid with pie.

Interesting. Any more detail on that mate? Can't seem to find anything online.

If it's quality stuff I don't mind paying the premium. I've had the same leathers for ~7 years now and if I work out an extra £100-£200 against a decent item over that long then I'm not too fussed, I guess.

Any other brands to consider? After a leather jacket that's not collars and studs or tassles, simple ideally clean style with no double breasted collars and the like.

Cheers for the info so far Thumbs Up

I like Richa stuff. They do everything from power ranger to hipster with a bit of Jax Teller stuff thrown in for good measure.

I'd quite like the Mugello Jacket next. https://www.richa.eu/en/mugello-jacket?cid=3

The full range - https://www.richa.eu/en/men-jackets-leather

I'm told that the view of Halvarssons in the trade (and its sister brands Jofama and Lindstrands) is that they're very high quality with innovative features. More UK dealers would like to stock them but they can't because Rukka doesn't give good terms unless they get exclusivity. And you just have to stock Rukka because of the high demand.

Rukka and Halvarssons/Jofama/Lindstrands are both Swedish and they hate each other.

I think you might be at cross purposes, your post reads like Halvarssons ceased trading, not Newcastle H-D.

Can't comment on Halvarssons other than I saw and tried on some of their jackets at NEC a few years ago (out of curiosity, no intention of spending that much money)

Got some Lindstrands gloves though and cannot fault them at all, when you consider the price they're probably the best pair of gloves I own.

From what I've read on various online reviews and forums the Halvarssons stuff is priced under Rukka but considered to be of equal quality re like for like garments. Most of the in depth reviews I've seen are on the safety jacket.
