Ok, so I was getting annoyed with my grips turning off every 10 minutes earlier so I thought I would go through the paper work.

The battery has only covered 4K but was fitted 5years ago. Is it worth swapping out?

Also the tyres have only covered 5k, but they were fitted 6years ago.

In fact I think I have covered more miles since I brought the bike last month, than the bike has covered since 2011.

It would help if you said which bike and what make the grips are !!

You NEED a multi meter

1st check the bike is charging if so it probable the grips are faulty Oxford ?? their auto switch off is crap !!

Hi the bike is a pan ST1100, and yes oxford grips with v5 controller, The bike was serviced last week and alternator output tested OK. Lights are OK don't change much if at all from running/non running or revving the engine at all.

I'm thinking maybe the relay as was only getting 10.5-11.5 volts on the outside, would fitting a 12v capacitor make things better?

No just replace the Oxford rubbish
I am a former Oxford dealer and gave them up over poor Quality and shit treatment of smaller traders

We now sell JMP own brand from Larsson UK half the price of oxford and more reliable

Bike it ones are ok as well

I don't believe you were an Oxford Dealer. I have spoken to a few and they swear down their stuff is pukka. Smile

I know from many 'previous' experiences that Oxford stuff is marginally decent but basically crap.

OP it seems like the controller is gubbed. SOme of them control the temperature of the grips by pulsing the power to then grips. More pulses more heat less pulses less heat.
They are more or less solid state PCB and no user parts.
They are also Oxford so will be made of solid plastic and pasta.
Get onto Oxford and see if they are interested in helping you. Since their stuff is SOOOO well made. Smile

Or eat it and buy something better. If you are serious about needing the grip then consider proper OEM. But knowing Honda they probably cost packet £300 ++
Ebay may be a place to try.

tyres, common sense, probably getting on a bit and will be getting slightly more brittle than new, depends on how/where the bike has been stored too, any sign of hairline cracking on the walls, I'd replace.

Personally, at 6yr+ for peace of mind I'd replace
