I have a very annoying problem with my gearbox, here goes,

Bought it 3 months ago new and when I click up into 4th gear I will start accelerating fine but once it has reached 6000rpm it pops out of gear and I have to wait for the revs to go down before it will re-select the gear.
Anyone else have this problem.
Shouldnt happen should it??
Thinking of taking it back to where I bought it and getting them to fix it.
Im sure it is not lazy foot.

Any replies welcome

Its something to do with the clutch. I'm not sure what. I just remember people saying when you test a bike put it in fourth gear and accelerate hard if it slips the clutch is screwed. It may just need new clutch plates, but im not 100%

Sounds like worn selector forks or dogs, will cost a bit in parts so try and get them to do it.

It’s not the 7-speed Mito is it?

I've seen this problem twice. Overtightened clutch straight from the factory causing excessive clutch wear.

If it is you will need new clutch plates.

Hi

The Aprilias do not use plastic gearbox gears. There are a few plastic gears for the oil / water pump and for the counterbalancer, but that is not unusual.

This problem sounds like worn dogs on the gears, but it is also possible that it is the clutch as Dom_ says.

All the best

Keith

So what would be the best thing to do?? Take it back to where I bought it from (still under warranty)
How can I be sure it is before going all the way up there??

Cheers Cool

Not picking at (on?) you, just poiting out that you did actually say what you said you hadn't.
I was poiting out the truth, if that hurts, then you deserve to feel bad.

Besides, I did it in a joking manner. Rolling Eyes Confused
