Just put a turbo sticker on it, it'll go ten times faster.

You will struggle to find a turbo to fit a 50cc but look at your fuel to get more power, for maximum bang go with Nitro with a dash of Hydrazine.

I don't suppose it matters, as long as it's red.

Does that come with personal experience/recommendation?

Pretty sure if you tried that on a hill climb, the marshalls would outrun the bikes....

Short answer = yes.

long answer, unless you're an Engineering graduate with an understanding of fluid dynamics and two stroke exhaust design, then no.

I've heard stupider questions.

I'd go with supercharging rather than turboing though, not enough gas pressure to spool up a turbo properly.

You can buy mechanical superchargers for 50cc bikes (4-strokes). They take a fair amount of mechanical know-how and engineering to fit. Unless you have a C50/monkey engine in which case there is an off the shelf kit available. Probably costs more than your bike.

Then you turn 17 and find a cheap Chinese learner legal 125 is in every way faster than your supercharged scooter which you now can't sell for even half what it cost to build.

Due to the broken crankshaft.

It's too expensive to do turbo on most small bikes, especially if you need someone to fabricate all the hot side pipework etc.

Also suitable turbos for a 50cc single are very rare and next to impossible to trip up over secondhand in a breakers yard.

Put a 125cc two stroke motor in instead if you want a fast 50cc special. Also I believe in forced induction only being any good when you can't get any more capacity out of an engine, or cannot get a bigger one to fit.

If I wanted some mad uni graduate engineering project, I'd look at building a 100cc twin cylinder motor based on the 50cc bottom end instead.
