I am looking to do a tour of the Alps and the Stelvio Pass and looking for someone to go with, I know most of the roads and I know how to get there avoiding most of the tolls.

I live on the edge of Snowdonia, so we could probably meet in Hull if you are in the North or somewhere in Belgium if you are from the south.

I ride a Royal Enfield Bullet so it will not be a superfast tour.

Anybody interested, post here then message me and perhaps we could meet up.

Having done Stelvio and some of the passes around it I reckon it would be pretty hard work on a Bullet. Praying for more power/torque on the way up and wishing for better brakes on the way down.

I dont know how many days youd need for something like this.

Im posting because curious. I also have a royal enfield classic and this would interest me in the future. Sadly this year i have my holidays almost used up.... But if you remember my name id deffo be up for something for The future.

If its later than 2009, the brakes aren't too bad. Bigish disk on the front. I've had mine up and down Hardknot and Wrynose passes a few times at 30% and not had any bother.

The Stelvio as a bike road is, in my opinion is very over rated - great views but never ending short straights and stupidly tight hairpins. Almost always very busy so either Banzai overtaking or breathe in fumes from the never ending traffic. Worth doing once but many more much better passes in the Alps.

This is true Thumbs Up

You quickly get fed up with navigating your way around pushbikes, trying to overtake slow vehicles and tipping it into a relatively blind hairpin only to find a feckin massive motorhome taking up the whole road.

Take no notice of The Stelvio Comments. While I agree there are better motorcycling roads in The Alps, it is a cross of the bucket list place to go.

I do it regularly as a guide. Ride it north east to south west, you'll thank me later. Many vintage and classic clubs do it even if old carbed engines are wheezing a bit.

Interesting but not really representative of what it can be like. In that vid the road is incredibly quiet, hardly any traffic and very few cyclists. When we did it in July it was packed with a constant stream of cyclists cars and motorhomes.

Have you got a vid taken in the summer when it's properly packed?

But then a busy one wouldn't be representative of what it can be like either. Plenty of variety on YouTube. It is what it is. Do it earlier or later in the day and you miss the traffic anyway and that's where local knowledge helps and I earn a crust of bread. The Umbrail Pass is usually as quiet as in the vid though as it is missed by those going on over. Don't be reluctant to seek advice from locals as to road and weather conditions, it usually pays dividends.

i did like the Selvio, worth the trip if your in the Alps anyway. This was mid June last year, the bigest problem for me were the other bikes running wide exiting the hairpins, not to busy though. sorry for the lack of sound but my external mic got soaked going through the Verdon Gorges and packed up, i did not know until i got home and started to download from memory cards to the pc (insert a very very sad face) such a loss as the bike had twin open stubby exhausts on to lol, sounded awesome to me but i bet it pissed off so many others

The biggest risk of riding in The Alps is becoming part of someone else's incident. Bikes running wide is common and at low speeds as often as high speeds. Target fixation and nerves often the main contributory factor.

Not had any experience of this, but interested enough to have a good read of their site. If you want to travel in style! And a snip at £700! This would be an experience, but isn't half the fun in the journey?!
