Fair point IMO. If you're working for the same company, can't accept work from anyone else, are monitored and basically have to do what you're employee says, then you're not self-employed.

Trouble is, as of recently, a law was passed that stated that anybody working for the same company (as a self-employed contractor) for more than six-months was entitled to the same status as normal employees. If you google "IR35" you can get the full details but the basic gist is explained here:

https://www.contractorcalculator.co.uk/mutuality_of_obligation_ir35.aspx

Ah right, I run a 1 man show myself these days but when I was a van courier working for Lewis Day in London some
14 or so years ago it was different. Some of the lads there were raking it in. Laughing

Huh, lycrathropes will be after human rights next.

If they don't like the deal, why not accept an offer from one of the many employers that are crying out for their qualifications?

Cycle couriers. They want to be treated as employees with all the freedom of the self employed.

Lol 2-3 quid per delivery with no hourly rate? Fuck that.

Why don't those tards just do their delivery job for a different company? Places are practically begging for it now, whether its a small local sushi shop, or a franchise like domino's/pizza hut.

You get around £7-£8 per hour, paid holiday, sick pay, company insurance, free staff food/discounts, paid petrol, tips, etc.

A lot less work for the same money unless you're doing 4+ deliveries an hour as a courier. In fact even when it got busy at those pizza places I was doing, you could bang out a few deliveries an hour, while stopping at a chippy on the way back from delivery (if it was a far one) and get the same pay for eating chips and riding lazily back to the shop.

It's not exactly like they're stuck there. Those big companies with all the perks always need people. ALWAYS.
