So last year i finished A2, (next year A). So this year i am buying new motorcycle, i am huge fan of Honda, so first i took a look at new CBR 500. I am 187cm tall which makes CBR500 small bike for me some of guys said. Other thing is i would like to drive my gf sometimes she is 165cm, so what would you guys recommend me to buy? I am more into sport style stuff,...

https://cycle-ergo.com/

Put your dimensions in here and see what looks comfortable based on that.

Hmm yeah this shows how big it would look like. But what are your recommendations?

About the same height as me. I have no problem on a standard CB500. All the bikes in that class are roughly the same size anyway, to within a surprisingly small margin.

Buy what you like. It won't be until you've ridden a bigger bike for some time that you'll form a proper oppinion of what you do and don't like in one.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

They are largely based upon hearsay and as such no useful yardstick helping you choose a bike, that's what they are.
I've run a low mileage current shape ER6f for a couple of years, but I'm not as tall as you and I find it cramped,
especially 2 up. So the one bike I do have some experience of probably wouldn't suit you. But I rode a 2003 Fazer 600 for my DAS
and test and that was a pretty easy bike to get on with. Don't remember that feeling cramped at all. It was a smoother
bike than my Kawasaki but it was IL4 rather than parallel twin which is what the ER6f is. I'm looking at a Street Triple
for my next bike now.

Knowing that you'll very likely trade up to an 'A' bike next year and take the big hit on depreciation?

Nope. Unless there's some reason why not (are you in the UK?), then I'd be looking at something like a used GSX650FA or SV650S, restrict or "restrict" it to 35kW, then "destrict" it in the test centre car park and use it to pass your 'A' tests, job done.

If you can find a "sports style" Honda or Yamaha that's 600cc+ and claimed between 40kW and 70kW from the factory, sure.

My point is that you can buy an SV650S outright for the cost of a year's depreciation on a CBR500R.

I'm not saying that the 500 is a bad bike, but buying new is what you do when you're sure you'll be keeping a bike for many years.

You asked for opinions, so here's mine.
Well I agree with Mr Borg, don't buy new.
You don't mention your mechanical skills which can be quite relevant to 'how old' a bike to go with, but if your not very mechanical then hopefully you've got a good local independent mechanic that you trust. In which case ask him what he knows is for sale that may suit you and is decent value for money.
If he doesn't know of anything at the moment then Mr Borgs 2 suggestions are well worth searching out.
Then when you're full 'A' is sorted you can decide if you really want a new one or would you prefer something older and change every year or two without losing money hand over fist... or..
