Just to let anyone that runs an amd apu know the hd8570 oem graphics card sold by dell hp Lenovo etc WILL work in dual graphics mode just like the hd6670 (supposedly the best official option).

There is an oem hd8670 version available too as well as 2gb vram versions which by my reckoning should work a treat alongside the higher spec apu's

I upgraded the gpu in my dell tower to an older gtx560 non ti and decided to give the dual graphics thing a try on my asus tower, so I fitted the hd8570 and 550w psu , I was going to stick in the local free ads/ bargain pages etc so not fussed if it didn't work.

After figuring out how it all needs to be set up, and the best configuration for performance it is running in dual graphics mode loverly utilising both the hd8570d igpu and hd8570 gpu the apu is the a8-6500 btw ,

If I use the monitor ports on the motherboard the second graphics card even shuts off in non 3d use (which is good because it has a high rpm 50mm fan). the igp may well turn off in similar fashion when hooked upthe opposite way but you would not know beacause the cpu fan stays running no matter what.

Performance increase isn't massive but it is noticeable.

If you use the graphics card as the primary you get the ability to overclock using the ccc options but the card never goes idle so it's a bit noisy, using the igpu as the primary you can't overclock but you get the second gpu going into sleep mode for peace and quiet and power saving.
