Bought a bandit as a first bike, thoughts?

Good for a first bike, comfortable and predictable. High mileage ruins the handling so be prepared before you throw it eagerly into a corner.
Like I did....... Like a pogo stick it was... However it had 60,000 miles on it.

Reliable, however build quality is an issue. Its a budget bike. It does its job well, but if exposed to a winter then the finish suffers.

Nuts bolts and screws seem to be made of cheese so a try to use only good quality well fitting tools.

Other than that a perfect starter bike.

Mine has 29k for a 97 so would presume thats fairly low.
Was looking into a cbr 600rr but my dad advised a bandit would be better for me to start off with. And to be honest the bike was my dads and is literally spotless and well looked after.. after looking at prices wouldnt say it was too bad for £900. Just wondered if anyone had any particular issues with theirs or down sides to them.

Exhaust collector box can rot easily.
Rear brake caliper pad pins seize.

As said not the best handling or exciting but as an all rounder
that is cheap to maintain and easy to work on, you can't go
far wrong.

As a first bike IMHO its a good choice.

Aha, thanks for that i am pretty confident. Just like to be realistic and not over optimistic any last minute tips? Just things i really need to remember to apply?

The plug sockets can apparently fill with water in heavy rain if the drain holes get clogged. That's really scrabbling around looking for flaws though.

I've had four. Good workhorse but the electrics suffer with age when used in all weathers. My last one was a '04 and it has a rotten habit of dropping cylinders then cutting out completely in heavy rain. This was what eventually led to me deciding to get shot of the thing though ironically I fitted gsxr 1000 coils to it and never had a problem between deciding to sell it and actually selling it with those fitted.
I also found that the carbs would need a full strip down and service at least once a year or the starting suffered badly.

Passed it been out on the bike enjoying riding! Although i must say, my hate for car drivers has become worse, its bad enough when im driving the car, even worse on the bike. Unless ive encountered every arsehole in leeds on the road in the last week 😂
