Signed up, but found this on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS73MdDDA2U

It doesn't look too bad.

Although I recently started playing Armored Warfare (which actually seems a bit fairer than WoT) so far

Massive in-atmosphere spacecraft thingy
Proceeds to engage in combat at 500m.....

I know there wouldn't be as much to look at but why are these things basically fighting at point blank range? Even back in the 1940's battleships were shooting at each other 15miles away using radar-targeted gunnery.

These things should be firing at each other at almost beyond visual range (launching fighters to make close assault would be reasonable), with than game being about getting good firing solutions and tactical manouevring.

Obviously in space, but I liked in the Halo books when the ships are fighting at distances of hundreds of thousands to millions of kilometers.

Try The Forever War, where the ship's computer determines that one enemy missile will get through the defences and strike a specific location in several (subjective) days time, leaving the crew with nothing to do except pre-emptive evacuation and damage control.

Signed up for the Dreadnought beta anyway because moar pew-pew.

I remember signing up for this and getting all excited, then forgetting all about it. Is it MMO or offline?

I've been looking forward to Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade
Space marine multiplayer was great so I'm hoping for something along the same lines but more races to choose from.

Beta key just dropped. Anyone tried it yet? It actually looks a bit messy and random from the gameplay videos.

This is something I really liked about EVE Online.

I never really got on with the MMO aspect (it takes second job to a whole new level, it's basically modeled on real life WRT the effort you need to put in), but the combat and physics etc were relatively realistic whilst still being fun.

Eh. Reasonable enough, you'll doubtless find a ship that you like playing.

So, I tried them all out in the training botmatch, OK, let's give it a go for real. Start deathmatch.

Matchmaking. Matchmaking, 1 minute. Matchmaking, 2 minutes. Matchmaking... 4 minutes. Sleeping

There's probably some tactics involved, but it's all a bit scrappy. It's hard to see what makes a difference, or whether any ships are particularly useful.

I don't know if it's just underpopulated or if there's some issue with the matchmaking, but ain't nobody got time fo'.

Agreed.

Matchmaking takes forever.

Not a bad time waster though, but I wouldn't pay to play.
