Hi all, my DT keeps misfiring and backfiring every time it rains. I thought it was the HT cap, but despite changing it and making sure it's water tight the problem persists. Any ideas?

Check / inspect the other end now around the coil and seal that.

It's doing it without raining now so I believe it's a carb / spark issue.

when its dark ( put bike in a dark place ) attempt to start the engine.

Can you see any "lightening" ( tracking ) or ht arcing?? may be the ht loss has burnt a pathway to earth, and now only wants to get to earth that way.

A red neon plug cap is a good cheap visual aid for ht problem diagnosis.

clean the plug which may now be fouled due to misfire etc.

there is fuel in the tank and carb?? any water??
