I have a little UPS issue. First of all it's shut off the power ports so it isn't passing power through to equipment. However, it's also refusing to turn off. Currently running of its batteries only but I can't get the bugger to switch off. With no load it'll probably run for a week before it has no power.

It's a powerware 9120 with additional batteries. anyone got any ideas?

As it's not passing power through I assume you are OK to pull it from the circuit?

I'd do that, then pull it apart and remove the batteries and put them back in again (hard reboot). But even if that sorts it out, I'd be wary of relying upon it. It's possible the controlling micro has crashed, but it may also be a hardware fault.

Yeah, it has no load and is isolated from any equipment.

How old's the unit. In my experience these things don't last forever.

is there a breaker/ isolator on the back of the unit?

if so, could you safely pull that out without it giving you a belt?

It finally ran out of battery last night...

There is a breaker or sorts but

a) you need to fit the switch while the unit is off
b) you can do it while it's on batteries.

I'll open it up and have a look tonight...
