0% finance over 4 years.

£9699

+ R1 trade in. It's like £150 a month. Bargain.

Can't argue with 0% finance, 4 years is a long time though. Wait, are we supposed to talk you out of it or encourage you?

Depreciation, in 4 years worth 4k?
9699 - R1 = 7200 quid
÷ 4 years = 1800 quid a year

Residual value 4k to drop into an electric bike, as by then petrol will be killed off by the green tax agenda.

That gives £2.5k for the R1. Your profile says 2005 R1. Surely that's worth at least £3.5k?

I'd be looking at £130 rather than £150 per month over 4 years to get a suitable value for the R1, otherwise you may as well sell that privately, which shouldn't be hard given that the sun is starting to shine now.

In 4 years time, you'll realise (as everyone else has) that you're too old for a sportsbike and wishing you'd got a GSR750 ABS for £2K less instead. Whistle

If its only 2.5k for the r1 I'd buy that Laughing

I can't talk you out of it as I've just put in a request for finance on a year old one at £6750 with under 1k miles.

I was slightly under egging it, my R1 is probably worth £3k-£3.1k on the used market, trade in I estimate 2-2.5k assuming Suzuki tried to pull my pants down a little.

Where are you getting the 4k deprecation? Probably not fair off to, given it'll be getting used rather than being sat in a garage.

And I have no need to seek approval, I'm using it more as a sounding board as I know how anti-finance some people here can be. It seems like a total no brainer though, I expect a replacement will be out in 2018 so they have to shift them, but even so. As an added bonus, there's no mileage cap on this agreement either.

Cheap Gixxer you say?

https://www.gumtree.com/p/suzuki-motorbikes/suzuki-gsxr-600-k4-swaps/1166956685

Unsure if dodgy or retarded. Guy has 4 bikes all advertised as 'in use daily for commuting'.

I'd be happy with a seller claiming it was a daily commuter if it was in regular rotation so being run 1/4 of the time. That's more a daily commuter than a garage queen. However, this one is apparently in poor condition, he claims there aren't any out there as bad as this:-

Also says 'swaps' - I suspect he chose a random price.

All looks a bit dodgy.

Anyway - I haven't kept track of the GSXR750 at all recently.

From what I can see, the GSXR1000 hasn't actually come on that much in the last ten years.

Is a brand new one much better than a four/five year old one?

No issues with 0% though, as long as you don't default there are no negatives. Plus you can always settle the finance early if you have the spare cash.

£9699 is the one with the Yoshi can? It's a very tempting offer that Paddy should consider as well. May be more up front but when you factor in interest it might not work out much more.

You are a bad man mentioning this. Now I've looked on the Suzuki site and a Busa Z with the Yoshi cans for a touch over £12k is calling me Very Happy

Same place you got the value of your R1, thin air!
If you can afford it do it, finance has its uses if done correctly and responsibly.

Just check t&c's and consider how you'd be affected if you dropped it or it got nicked. This would likely require factoring in some other insurance product.

Oh joy, those rebellious free spirited bikers fretting about financial packages Neutral

The few years older model with blue frame is much nicer. Laughing but nah I'd only consider brand new if I was not too worried about depreciation. 10k to 7k in a year Neutral

I'd rather have the R1 and 150 quid extra a month to blow but that's just me and probably the reason I've had an old fzr for 10 years.

I'd rather have a mint 98-2001 R1 that is probably appreciating slowly and save the cash for something else. A 150bhp 75ibft litre bike sounds more useful than a similar power 750cc that is in no man's land today capacity wise.

Each to his or her own, but anything on 0% interest makes new purchases seem more acceptable.

Yes, that's the one. All of the new Suzukis are coming with a host of Yoshimura bits at the moment.

4 years finance though. New begins to make sense if you're planning to keep it for several years rather than regularly chopping it in and eating that first year hit over and over again.

There's a 3 year warranty on new Suzukis at the moment as well assuming they're still around to honour it.

I'd be keeping it for at least 3 of those years. I had the 954 for 3 years, R1 just over a year now and wasn't looking to change until I saw this deal, if I don't go for it I'll be keeping the R1 for the foreseeable anyway.

Might get a test ride and take it from there.
