I've noticed that there are a few Shark S900 helmets for sale on Ebay for £129 which is a very cheap price for this model considering the spec of the helmet. Are these legit or moody copies does anyone know? For example ....

Seller is in Newcastle and seems legit.
I have an earlier version of the S900 (it's this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shark-S900-Comfort-Prime-Gloss-Full-Face-Helmet/121957472516 ) and my usual size is on the tight side if anything.
This is the problem with buying online of course unless you are mean and try one on elsewhere, even then there could be slight variation in the one you get.

Established business with a physical presence. Some shuffling at Companies House, but the latest incarnation is knocking on 7 years old and has been filing accounts. Go for it.

Nice one, thanks fellas. Really tempted as my Nolan's visor is playing up after it was dropped in a garden full of sixteen year olds celebrating a birthday party in my missus' house (long story).

They do list the S900 for £194 on their site though ...

https://cart.protothebikeshop.co.uk/products?keywords=s900

It does get good reviews from what I've read.

My S900C wasn't much more than that from SBS this time last year so they're probably just having a clear out.

Well, I’ve just received the Shark helmet but I’m not happy with it. The box has been opened and taped back shut again with brown packing tape. There was no protective packaging inside the box so the helmet could have rolled around inside in transit or kncked and it looks like it might have been tried on by someone and returned. Its obviously not brand new and this was not in the description on eBay.

Its going back and I'm getting a refund.

I own a S900c and while I'm generally quite pleased with it, do be aware that when you do a shoulder check at anything between 40-50mph and above, the visor will flip up. Shocked

I have heard they were working on a solution to this problem but, don't know if it's been resolved. If it has though, those cheap ebay ones could be old stock they're trying to get rid of.

That sounds incredibly un-fit-for-purpose ...

So I googled this helmet and SportsBikeShop have them for £129... https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/237398

And it's the special edition you're after. I'm sure there'll be other places too, not just eGay.

PS: I don't work for them, but I did ride all the way to bloody Boston to buy all my gear and they were sound.

It is a pain tbh but, out of all the lids I'd tried, it was a perfect fit.

Wouldn't buy another one because of it though.

That ebay ad is confusing/wrong.

It states that it is the version with the air pump, which is known as the S900c. At the same time it says it's the S900. Which is the same lid, minus the air pump system.

Well I just rang them and the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hello, the helmet I bought isn’t as per the description. The box has been opened, there’s no protective packing, and the helmet is just in its carry bag in the box.

Them: Oh we open up all the boxes and check them and reseal them with packing tape. The shark helmets don’t come with protective packing around the helmet?

Me: Really? There’s no protective packing around any Shark helmets?

Them: No. We’ve been selling them for 20 years and they don’t send them protective packing. Just the helmet in a carry bag.

Me: I find that hard to believe.

Them: Its true.

Me: The helmet model is different, you’ve advertised the helmet as an S900 Special but you’ve given me a 900c.

Them: Oh, we’ve made a mistake there. We’ve given you the more expensive S900c with he air pump system. You’ve got a more expensive helmet there.

Yep that's what I told them too but they reckon that theres a mistake in the description and they've sent the more expensive version.

SO ... dilemma is, do I get a less expensive helmet and the aggro of sending it all back OR ... keep this one ?

The difference in price is like a tenner. Get the one you want.

Tbh, I'd keep it, as you don't have to use the air pump, so wouldn't make any difference, as far as I can tell but, you have it as an option should you decide to.

I don't remember mine coming with any padding in the helmet box itself, plenty in the SBS outer box though.

I'd keep it, the air pump can be useful to balance out the padding flattening as you wear it.

yeah on thinking about it now, might be an idea to just keep it. The helmet itself fits perfectly, pinlock is present. I still rate the Nolan N86 over it, but the quality of build is similar. The vent buttons and visor tab are a bit fiddley with gloves on as is the sun visor lever. However, the sun visor is better on Shark than the Nolan.
