Radiator refurb cost?

I have a radiator leak on my 1998 Deauville. A cursory glance suggests stone damage to the bottom row of fins, towards the left of the pic, but the bottom two/three rows were fairly wet with coolant when I parked the bike up (wind effect / expansion?).

Rather than try (and likely fail) with Radweld/JB Weld etc I thought about those places who refurb radiators. Obviously I looked on ebay for a decent second hand one, but none so far.

Anyone any idea of cost for a refurb? I'm guessing £60 but I guess that it depends on the damage done.

New Chinese replacements come up on ebay from about £70 delivered. Not sure if you can find one for the Deauville though.

Radiators don't only wear on the outside.
They are constantly in contact with a powerful solvent H2O.

Over many years or heat cycles the inner surface erodes too.

As far as refurb you mean replace/rebuild as opposed to repair.

A repair will last until the next minor projectile or vibration damage strikes.

The risk of a leak is fine catastrophic failure and disappoint or you forget to top up overheat and seize a piston, warp a head etc.

New Rad will be about 1/3 to 1/2 cost of OEM. Provided the model is supported.

I need a new rad in my K1300 BMW. BMW want £700 and no one makes them.

They are surprising easy to make too.
All they need are the top and bottom tanks and they build the core from reels of raw material.

I had my old Toyota Supra rad re-cored for about 80 quid some 10 years ago. Can't imagine a bike rad would be more than that even now
