Hi to everyone.
I just bought a CL400 and its has just dawned on me how difficult it is to find out anything about this imported bike!
I don't have an manual or even a handbook.

For example I had fuel overflowing on Sunday ( probably the float valve had some dirt in it) so I took the carb out and cleaned it but without a manual I have no way of being 100% sure everything was put back as designed.

Does anyone know of a group for CL400 owners so we can share experience and information?

Cheers
Richard

Hi, there are manuals out there, but pricey, yours is the Honda NC38 , have a look at the Honda xr400 which is the Honda NC38e, some parts are inter changeable Thumbs Up

Thanks Meatybeaty - so mine's a NC38 motor then. Good to know.

Yes the engine is essentially the same as an XR400 and I have now downloaded a PDF version of a manual for one of those for £2 off ebay. My CL400 carburettor is a bit different to the one described in the XR400 manual.

Markings on the carburetter say KEI*HIN then VEBAAANF

Anyone know how I can identify the carb from that number?
It must be the same as some other Honda models?

Thanks Bikenut.
I know CMSL is a parts supplier but they don't seem to list CL400 parts.
Where can I get some exploded views? They would be useful.

Thanks Oldie -
Yes it is indeed a twin exhaust port single.
If anyone recognises this carburetter it would be a big help:

It's a Keihin VE, as used on some older Hondas. If it states the diameter on it then you should be able to get more info on them doing a search on the hondatwins.net forum (link above).

Update -
I now have a manual for this bike thanks to the excellence of this forum.

Its in Japanese but better than nothing.

If anyone wants to share info about the CL400 or indeed the CB400SS then I would be pleased to help if I can.

Looking at the engine it seems to be an XBR/GB/NX amongst others single. The manual for an XBR500 would likely be fine.
