Low on power. Im going to assume valve clearances not done and bang.

Is it louder on that side? Before you write it off have a look at the clutch. Does the clutch affect the noise? Mine made a similar noise when i have broke a finger on the clutch basket. Bad but not fatal.

When I started it, with the clutch in it pulled forward even with the clutch in which it never normally does... Dunno if that has any bearing on it. Sounds ok at idle, rev it and it sounds like that. Pretty sure it's toast, new bike / new engine job.

Clearances were done within service interval due.

Well the bike is running so I'd say it's far from a new engine job. The damage may not be as bad as you expect when you open it up

If it didn't eat itself, it's certainly repairable.

Do the easy things first, clutch as suggested then for me it would be engine our and start to strip it.

You have nothing to lose as you will either be replacing engine or bike. If it was mine I's want to strip it down and find the cause of what happened.

I would be so sure it it sounds like a clutch issue, worse case is
new fiction plates -£75?
New Steal plates - £75?
New (sh) basket £20? ebay
Oil - £30
Gasket £10

+ Probably Sump gasket and oil filter to get the pieces out of the engine.

Found all sorts of bits stuck to the sump plug...

Not nearly as revealing as what I found when barrels and head was removed. Wrecked valves, and damaged bore. 2 cylinders running at 75 and 50 psi before stripdown.

Dead. Sad

Shame for a nice SRAD to die like that.

I wasn't one of the ones that thought clutch from the sound of the bike, would have been nice if it was I guess. It sounded top end to me, like cam chain tensioner, or badly damaged cams/followers maybe.

From what you've said about the two pots at 50psi and wrecked valves and cylinders, Im really surprised it sounded as good as it did though.

Was it a slipped or knackered CCT that has caused it do you reckon?

Buy this, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Gsxr750-Srad-Engine-From-A-1998-Model-27k-/252357134696?hash=item3ac1a84968:g:3vEAAOSwDNdVq39D

Pay the man and I can collect it for you. You can then collect it from mine as and when or arrange someone to.

There is a chance I am in liverpool this weekend so could bring it there

Appreciate the offer fisty, already messaged the seller about that engine, it's from the carbed model unfortunately.

Sourced an engine in Essex, bit far but getting the bus to work is longer. 2 hours onto every day... Rolling Eyes

Massive play in one conrod, the shells were in pieces when the conrods were removed...

Not sure what caused it, it was a high-ish mileage engine (48k) and I hammer it everywhere so...
