Ankle Boot Suggestions?

Hey Guys & Gals

Im kinda new and have been looking into getting some proper ankle boots, I was wondering if anyone had any preferences that I should think of looking at.

I have wider feet, and have found that most of the boots I have looked at in shops are too narrow for my size, Im looking for an ankle boot that isnt overly race-styled since I only ride a 125.

Preferably something a bit like a TCX X-Miles Waterproof Boot please!

Lets make sure that we're all on the same page here. Do you want an ankle boot that is waterproof or isn't? I ask because you mention the above boot but don't state if that's just an example of style or..

I can appreciate that you don't want anything race styled due to personal preference but wouldn't use the bike you ride as a reason for that choice, point being is that in the event you go hurling through the air or sliding down the road what bike you where riding prior to that happening wont make a difference. You depend on your gear to save you and enable you to get up and walk away, care less about what it looks like and more about how good it is at its job.

My recommendation would be Alpinestar SMX-1, although again we revert to the WP question.

Also what useage due you want out of the boots? For me I have full race style WP boots for commuting and all weather riding and ankle boots for warm days and social rides.. and the occasional commute during a warm day.

I sometimes ride with a textile jacket that has a race hump on the back, sometimes a leather jacket, often in boots that a race styled. If it's comfortable and fits the bill then job jobbed (edit: I mention because also ride a 125).

Had my Nitro NB31's for 3 years now, abused them, and they've kept my feet dry in all but torrential downpours.

I have wide feet as well, only issue's the toe area's quite big, so depending on the bike you might have trouble with the shifter. Only had this issue once though (on a CG125).

Thanks for the fast responses.

I'm just looking for a somewhat normal, ankle boot for riding since I don't want to keep having to change boots and what not. Something comfortable, and conventional is all I'm looking for really.

I would prefer if the boots are waterproof but I don't mind too much.

Whats wrong with the TCX X-Miles? If they're anything like my infinities they'll be amazing.

That said, if you want something cheap, something like these:

shouldn't be too bad at low speed (I regularly wear a cat pair when I'm tootling about and they look fine with jeans).

Wasn't sure if the TCX had a wide fit.

The Richa boots look nice, from my fav shop too!

Try a pair on? I usually wear a reasonably wide fitting boot and the infinitys are fine. Not sure what the rest of the range is like.

Spent 2 hours walking around off the bike in bike boots once, never again.

Saturday.

90 minute ride, 90 minute walk around the shops, 90 minute ride home in my Richa Slicks.
Could wear them all day easy.
