Regardless of political affiliation, he comes across as a far more level headed and capable type than that idiot bumbling comedy poster boy buffoon Boris Johnson (Boris bikes are quite a good legacy though, I'll give him that).

Oh and Zac Goldsmith's campaign against Khan was ridiculous.

To answer Zacs question. Yes, but London has already handed over vast parts of London to Labour supporting
demographic terrorists to the point where indigenous folk are entirely unwelcome and discouraged from going there.
It seems only right to hand over the lot. Mosque planning permission requirements abolished in 3... 2...
Could the last white person to leave please switch the lights off...

Watched a news article today on BBC world service about a mass exodus of Jews leaving France currently.
With many heading to UK, in particular North London apparently. To those people I say this without a hint of irony
or malice but more as a public service announcement.

An interesting point I saw was that Sadiq Khan, being a 'Muslim' mayor of London, will show many potential ISIS types that London/the UK is not just the place of evil white westerner man, so many hopeful caliphate fools may be somewhat appeased, realising that the west already has Islamic types here living in relative harmony, so no need for the big invasion campaign they claim to be on.

They don't even want more "muslims", they want a very specific spec of muslim nuttery.

If you are the more reasonable sort of muslim you are obviously some kind of heretical deviant and not a true believer, hence most of their victims being muslim.

So you all think the Brits who bombed London were extremists from the start? You think they'd have bombed a London that they saw as somewhat more connected to their kin?

ISIS are undereducated nutjobs but our own people know very well the country they were brought up in for the most part. They bombed it because they felt it wasn't a place for them. With a brown man running London that may change things a bit.

Or it might not change a thing. London might be bombed next week by another Glasgow shopkeeper murderer type. I was just putting it out there. I do think new generations of Muslim lads will see London in a different light now though, at least to some extent.

Yes, I imagine they'll feel a much stronger degree of ownership.

The thing about suicide bombers is that they are insane. Sidique Khan (the London bomber, not Sadiq Khan the London mayor) was to all appearances a smart, fully integrated, model British citizen, having worked for the DWP and DTI, got a decent degree, and did very well working with troubled kids in schools and youth centres, advising them on "clean living, staying away from crime and drugs and the value of sport and outdoor activity."

Then pretty much within a year, he just went full snackbar, no warning signs, no particular reason, he just stopped showing up at work and decided to go and kill himself and a load of other people and recruit others to do so because allahu akhbar, martyrdom is da bomb.

His grievance was against UK foreign policy, by the way, and his role models were "Sheikh Osama Bin Laden, Dr Ayman al-
Zawahiri and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi".

How would having a moderate muslim mayor mitigate that level of deranged hatred and delusion?

I honestly think it could.

Who would be a stronger voice when saying, "Now then lads, come on, don't do anything silly." - Boris Johnson the white toff Etonite Bullingdon Boys member, or Sadiq Khan the Inshallah Peace be upon him prophet Muhammed Muslim brother?

Not that I really think Khan is about that kind of thing at all, but stupid people are swayed by stupid things. Brown man running London has to say something good to these people, specially those who were on the fence, questioning their identity, national affiliations etc. In the end it's only a bloke with a different skin colour, but idiots like to get worked up about this kind of thing.

in fact it'll make it worse.. a muslim living in peace with the infidel??? red rag to a bull right there.

didn't a muslim taxi driver recently kill a muslim shop keeper for some imagined slight against islam (the guy referred to himself as a prophet)?

being 'not muslim enough' is just as bad as being a non-believer in their eyes.

Indeed, but in the middle-east for the most part.

"They" - those in the UK - may just see Sadiq Khan as the prod to get them back to realising they actually are British first, not from some faraway land their ancestors relate to.

I hated ties so much in my last permanent job that I vowed to never wear one again after I left the place. I think it's been about 5 years now. Richard Branson doesn't wear ties either. I'm sure I'll have to stick one on again at some point, but I'll find any excuse to rip it off asap.

So I'm either a future entrepreneur of globally successful proportions, or I'm on the path to jihad. There are many reasons for a person to get rid of that daft noose around their neck. I think you're drawing quite a wild conclusion if you think this man without his tie will signal anything other than a bloke doing his thing, without a tie on.

I'm being pedantic here but your choice of phrase was indigenous folk entirely unwelcome and discouraged from going there. That's a bit different to heading out into those areas in a costume, but I do see your point. There are areas in London with a high % population of non-whites, British non-whites in most of those cases, it has to be said.

However; I walk through Whitechapel all the time, and I've friends that live there - I don't feel particularly unwelcome. I've had good mates, muslims themselves, that lived in Ilford for many years (one of them is on this forum now, although he's moved to nicer climes Laughing ) and when we used to go street racing / drifting or just round to a mate's to help him fix his car, I was never made to feel unwelcome or actively discouraged from coming along, either.

I also grew up in North London (Edmonton) and yeah, it was a bit fruity in places but I had the misfortune of moving to Basildon shortly after and believe me, you could stick me back in N18 any time over that shit hole - had more problems there with 'the indigenous' than I've ever had with a muslim of any variety Neutral

He did tie-up for his trip to commemerate the holocaust, mind, so there's that.

I wonder if anyone took the opportunity to ask him why he chose to represent a rabidly anti-Semitic holocaust-praising hate preacher? Or are we just laughing that one off now?
