 |
|
The 954 is going up for sale next week, I've narrowed my next bike down to a K4/K5 GSXR 750 (maybe K6/K7 if budget allows) or K3/K4 GSXR 1000.
I've ridden a K6 750 and it was a fun bike, but I was underwhelmed. I expected it to be a a toned down thou' (in the sense it could be ridden in a lazy way and still maintain good speed), but it's more like a beefed up 600 and as a result, still needed to be ridden like a 6 to make good progress. I love the torque my 954 provides, but I enjoyed revving the bollocks off the 750 equally as much at the time. I just get this feeling i'll get bored of revving the bollocks off the 750, as I did with my 600.
Opinions on either bike or a suggestions for any other bikes is welcome (budget will be £3,500)
TL;DR anyone downsized from a 1000 (or 954) to a GSXR 750 and regretted it/missed the torque their bigger bike provided? |

I got bored of having to rev a 600 all the time and moved to a larger twin - why are you selling the Duc out of interest?
Edit: Just seen your sig and had no idea Honda made a 954! ____________________ Left the forum.

Usual question, why those two? |
The GSXR 1000 appeals the most over the ZX10R and R1 of the same year. The K3/K4 I think looks good with a very good social network support group (for cheap parts - very cheap parts, advise and so on), it's radial brakes (which allow me to upgrade to Brembo M4's in good time) & they seem to be fairly robust bikes mechanically that can take a good thrashing without falling apart.
The GSXR 750, well there's nothing like it really. It has a good reputation and I enjoyed the one I rode, just worried i'll get bored of it. Same as the above, allows for easy upgrades, a lot of used parts around etc etc.

If you'd like to see the progress I make, send me a PM and i'll inbox you some videos
Sports bike's appeal to me, stuff like TDM's really don't. It's just a preference in styling. I did consider a big naked, but I can't stand the wind at over a ton. I know a screen will help, but nothing's as good as a proper fairing. FZ1S I did consider, but I just can't bring myself to like the look of them. |

With a 6year gap I pretty much did the same.
Didn't fancy the thou's anymore as they get real fast, real quick.
The 750 still has plenty of go and is a weapon against anything in the right hands.
Doesn't shake it's head half as much as the 10r did which is nice but will still get through the gearbox at an alarming rate.
Vtwin thou - had one of those too. Loads of torque but just huge. Which isn't a bad thing if your used to a 954 but won't feel as 'rapid' I don't think. Worth that for the noise they make ____________________ Future: ....

Wasn't too excited with the TL. might stretch the budget but get a dealer ride of a superduke 990.
Can't think of many twins that would excite but basing your twin experience on an snorev650 and Gladys isn't a great base line |
