so owned my vtr a few months now and feeling buyers remorse..

don't get me wrong the bike is so fun when you open the throttle, its wheelie happy everywhere but it seems to lack get up and go for a 1000cc...

yesterday i was behind a bike.. we overtook a line of cars together he was clearly in the same mood as me and i stuck with him fairly well but couldn't get past....

watched footage back looked his reg up.. it was a cbr 600rr.. i got out accelerated by a 600cc

ive got everything i could want low down, i can sit in 6th gear at 30 open the throttle and go but it just has no racing power...

so where do i go from here...

i cant help but feel even my fazer got away a lot quicker than the vtr.

What Teme said.

To get a faster bike, stop being a drain on the economy and get off your fucking arse and get a job.

Job means money.

Money means faster bike.

1000 inline 4 is what you need if you wanna beat 600's lol, gsxr, r1 or zx10 will do it . personally I would prefer the torque and ease the VTR offers over having to rev the nuts off a 600. have you tried changing the gearing in yours if your after more acceleration? tbh the vtr has about the same bhp as the cbr so once its in the right gear you aint gonna get by him, unless you can utilise the torque out of a slower corner, but as your on the road that's not going to happen to often.

gone -1 on the front sprocket, itll pull up in 3rd which is pretty fun but it just doesn't get going fast enough.

im thinking i may go back to il4's seeing as i earn mad cash in my new job its burning a hole in my pocket.

i do like the look of the k3 gsxr thou having not ridden a gsxr above a 600 i have no idea what they go like, few places round here that may have them to test ride however im not sure they will happily throw me the keys.

I've owned two and like them for what they are.

But the Firestorm isn't (and never was) a performance bike. It's more of a stripped down, V-twin VFR750. There are things you can do to get more top end from it (cams, exhausts, fuelling), but the chassis is competent rather than brilliant, so it's not really worth it.

A GSX-R1000 K3 is a completely different prospect.

Stop racing people on the street, you'll live longer.

My Z1000 is not going to go round corners or accelerate like an R1 but I couldn't give a shit as I like riding it and like how it looks.

K3 Gsxr1000 will get beaten by a S1000RR. So might as well get one of those or a Kwak HS2.

As mentioned, it would help if you bought something that was actually fast.

hmm. RWHP vs claimed there. In reality, the CBR600RR is a ~5bhp up on the VTR1000F. Still, big weight difference.

There are three types of litre bikes.

Power - S1000RR/ZX10R/R1 etc...
Torque - VTR/TL1000/older Tuono
Both - Hayabusa/ZZR1400

Personally, I'd flog the VTR and if you're on a budget, get an older Busa or ZZR1200. The VTR will feel like a toy afterwards.

Even on my Multistrada, I was having to try and not run into the back of someone on a VTR1000 on the last ride out.

You are talking out your arse,

S1000RR has more torque than any of the 'Torque' bikes.

Your categories would be more appropriately named...

IL4
V Twin
Bigger IL4
