I listen to the BT MotoGP Podcast, they were interviewing Matt Le Blanc who was at Le Mans (Big GP fan apparently) He said his input in the show is to put more bikes in the new series. He also said he was off to talk to Vale (and others) about making an appearance. Sounds promising Thumbs Up

Seems true, just a quick search of Chris Evan's twitter to see if he does ride or it's go to be yet more people that pretend to have an interest but know absolutely nothing about bikes and found the below image.

I'd assume it's going to be along the lines of old top-gear however - nothing to do with the vehicles. Merely the 'situation' bit of a 'sit-com'.

In fairness with the old three, both May and Hammond own a few motorbicycles. It's just with Clarkson being the main event I think it was down to him that it was so rare to feature them.

I will be watching it in the hope it's a departure from old top gear. They jumped the shark after Vietnam.

I'm partial to the polar challenge myself. Although Vietnam is a whisker behind in second.

Clarkson exaggerates his hatred of bikes. I remember years ago on one of his old programs, he rode a Ducati around Monaco: https://youtu.be/zWVNagdnftY?t=5m29s Ok he claims even then he can't ride a bike but I doubt you'd jump on a 916 with no experience.

He's also been seen on a Vespa, and not just in Vietnam Smile, which I doubt the BBC would have let him do (the Vietnam special) with no/v.little experience. Obviously May & Hammond are proper enthusiasts, I think the hamster has a busa.

If Jennifer Aniston's nipples are in it then I guess I'll watch.

Nah, people still say they won't watch it. I bet my left testicle that they will.
There will be 3 kinds of viewers:
1) Fans of the old/previous Top Gear, watching just to see the new crew fail.
2) People that just like shows about cars and won't care much.
3) People who will give it a go and decide later (me).

-----
Side question for the old enough. Do you remember the first ''new format'' of the Top gear? How they turned a serious motoring program into a comedy show. I bet there were people that were against it as well as there are people now, crying about Clackson, May and the wee one leaving the BBC. Thinking

Yeah, I remember when the likes of Quentin Wilson and Tiff Needell were the presenters on top gear. Like you say, quite a factual show back in the day. Much like 5th gear is now. I don't remember anyone getting upset about the change of format though. Having said that, I wasn't spending any social time on the internet back then. I'm definitely in the 2nd camp you outlined. I actually like Chris Evans, but then I was an impressionable youth in the 90s and loved the original TFI friday. I'm actually less likely to watch the new incarnation of Clarkson/May/Hammond (has that started yet?) as old "new" topgear got very tired towards the end and it'll probably just be more of the same from them.

Not going to waste my time on the new top gear, it is actually not top gear without the 3.

Wait for the new Amazon series.

Top gear died a long time ago, they've been flogging a dead horse for years...

5th gear was half decent a very long time ago, then they seemed to copy the top gear format, and introduce spanking cars round a track... like that has anything to do with what 99.9% of people use cars for.

5th gear takes itself too seriously, again looking at cars from a racing drivers perspective isn't what 99.9% of people use cars for. The most annoying thing about 5th gear is how they cut away from a piece, to the presenter talking about that piece Rolling Eyes Think I've only seen that done on retarded kids TV before...

The new format top gear did become more of an entertainment show, and more heavily scripted (or maybe they just got worse at hiding it). I actually thought it was getting better just before it was cancelled, although it did seem like they had run out of ideas.

Agreed, Jennifer Aniston's nipples should be in everything imo.

So, so true. They should be spanking them around roads instead, so we can see how they handle pot holes on a corner at 100mph, how fast they can stop on worn out roads and what the ride really feels like Smile

4) People that loved the original show until their 3 ego's got way too big and it became about them rather than the cars SO...now want to see some fresh blood pumped into it and bring it back to its former glory....although wouldn't mind If Chris Evans fucked off.

I would like it to be a success just to bury Clarkson and Co into the BBC archive of has-beens.
