My beloved Triumph textile jacket finally will need replacing soon.
I bought it for £55 as a 'factory second' about 8 ish years ago, and since then it has been unbeatable. I commute daily and it has been worn whenever it is wet or cold only now is the waterproofing starting to die. I had a wet arm coming home the other day.
Anyway I want something as good to replace it.
I want something with a waterproof ****tex lining (non removable) and a thermal lining (removable). I'm not bothered about vents as it will only be worn when wet/cold. I like the look of the 'Storm' collars too so would like one of them. Must be long too, my current one covers my arse, and the zip in trousers fasten about 4" up.
Currently I'm looking at the Triumph 'Navigator' Jacket as I believe it is the great great great great grandson of my one.
Budget is not too important, I want quality and will pay, that being said I looked at 'Rukka' Stuff which was too much(£950 for a jacket!!!)
The Trumpet one is £350 which is fine. I'd be happy to pay more for better (I'd be even happier to pay less!).
I'd also like *Matching bottoms, the ones I have aren't great and I never got on with them TBH.
*just zip in I'd rather not look like a full kit wanker.
Any Suggestions? ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Ive got the Triumph Navigator matching trousers because they were the only thing in the shop that fit my fat ass at the time
Bloody excellent, never leaked after 3 years or so of heavy use. So I can only imagine the jacket would be of similar quality. Triumph's own ***tex lining is the only one Ive found so far that comes anywhere close to being as good as actual goretex.
Ive had RST stuff with Sinaqua membrane which has leaked like a bugger from day 1.
Spada's waterproof membrane (cant remember what its called) has held up pretty well for about 18 months but now its starting to leak in the elbow crease but only in severe prolonged downpours.
If money was no issue, Id go for something with genuine goretex in it, from what I know goretex are the only ones who offer a lifetime guarantee that their stuff wont leak, unlike most others which seem to be 1-2 years |

Another +1 for the A* Andes from me. Mine has held up well through over a year of non-stop commuting in all weathers.
It crashed well too |

I was seriously looking at the Halvarssons safety jacket, especially as this place seems to be doing the "inner" part for half the price of most places:
https://www.raceleathers.co.uk/halvarssons-safety-jkt-level-1-jacket-mens-black-48.html
You also need to buy the outer which is the breathable/waterproof layer that the inner zips into. I think it's sheltex.
They do black, flouro or a full on police style outer layer, and there's even a vented outer for summer use.
As a system it does seem to make a lot of sense and online reviews rate it very well.
I was very close to going for it (probably less than a couple of weeks of continued procrastination) when I saw some goretex lined leathers on ebay. My money went on them. |
