Got to agree.

Shame he started to go all a bit uber-poof towards the end, though. I liked the much more creative/theatrical nature of the latent bisexuality-look from the early 70s, rather than the total homo thing going on towards the end.

Although at least my second choice (Mick Jagger) has managed to actually stay alive. Just.

Side issue.
I had no idea that Silvio Dante (Sopranos)

(a) is a famous guitarist with Springsteen in real life
(b) that his glorious barnet was a syrup.

I think Freddie was moito-uber waaay before but possibly decided to not give a fuck and just flaunt it later on. Smile

But I still think Frank Sinatra fronted some massive bands.

What? No Gary Glitter?

Seriously tho, what about Bowie, or my personal runner up, Marc Bolan?

Oh wait, cancel that..........Noddy Holder. Yes yes......he's the one.

PS. My age isn't showing. Is it?

I prefer the Stones, and Jagger is brilliant, but head to head, I think Mercury would just steal it. I can't say that I liked his performances, but they were utterly compelling.

Anyway, enough of the Patriarchy. If you can watch Billie Holiday sing Strange Fruit and not choke up, you're dead to me.

I've always despised the way old singers do that sort faltering-lingering noise on every longer note. Pain to my ears.

Too much a Jagger clone for me.

Not saying the world's greatest, but a few favourites:

Rory Gallagher
Buddy Guy
Phil Lynott
Jimi Hendrix
Ian Anderson

I knew both of those things. Laughing

I also liked it when they squeezed in lyrics from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's songs in the Sopranos.

"highway was jammed up with broken heroes on a last chance powerdrive" Thumbs Up

Preferred him in Lilyhammer though.

Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. Amazing both on and off stage. Not much he hasn't done with his life.

Also got to mention AC/DC's Brian Johnson. If I had that much money, I'd have built Thunderguts too.

Not in the same league as Mercury. But Justin from The Darkness is a consumate showman.

At the Brits awards a few years back he had a reverse platinum burst Gibson Les Paul made and couriered to the venue so he could come up out of the stage on top of a column playing it. Dude understands rock and roll.

Suggs has his moments. As well as being reassuringly normal.

Pain from the heart. You want to talk about cultural appropriation? Do you know what that song is abou- ah, never mind. All that matters now is whether bitch got mah money.
