I'm just watching some footage of my commute, and I've lost count the number of times I've subconsciously cancelled a phantom indicator signal as a safety net / comfort thing.

I know it's dodgy to leave them on, as drivers think you're going to turn left then pull out in front of you, but this is on a whole other level Embarassed

Surely it's not just me?

I only cancel them every time a garage asks me to get off my bike when filling up.

Seriously though, it's better to cancel than not to, otherwise if you're in the IoM at TT, you could end up riding for around ten minutes having loads of bikers behind you beeping their horns, while you keep looking around wondering what's going on, before you realise that they're beeping at you to turn your indicator off.

Not that that's ever happened to me. Shifty

Run an Enduro with no lights, and use hand-signals instead. Cool

Wish my Dad had that trait, the amount of times I've had to remind him his indicator's still blinking....

A friend of mine used to dab the back brake each time he went for a gear change. That was dangerously odd...

Me? OCD? Hmmm, nah.... not at all... but I think I check my pockets are zipped up all too often when setting off.

Don't get me started on checking whether the front door's locked...

This. Even when I know it's off, I do it just in case.

I've even absentmindedly cancelled mid-roundabout, just because at that moment I had the insatiable tick to spam my indicator cancel button, and realized "ooh shit why did I do that" and put it back on Laughing

According to Wikipedia, the word indicator is a synonym for the turn signal of an automobile.

Ohhhh... on gentlemen's bikes, we call them "trafficators".

The Burgman had some small reminder buzzers linked to the traffic- indicators. They were barely audible though, so I'd suggest wiring them up to the horn and main beam instead.

Mine are automatic off Dance!

However you can switch the auto cancel off by mistake when playing with the settings. I even took it back to the dealer moaning the self cancelling had failed. Embarassed

As above, my old GT550 had auto off which was both handy and annoying lol. My LML also has a really loud beeper that makes people stop and stare when you use them. Very Happy

The Nazi Tractor's are auto-cancel, which in practice means that they cancel at exactly the wrong moment and require much repeated mashing.

The settings can be altered, but nine layers down on a BMW Motorrad diagnostics tool. Sad

I rented a Road-King in Hawaii with self-cancelling signals. They worked pretty well. Witchcraft.

Yeah, I get this on the VFR. Stick the indicator on coming up to a junction, then I give a quick check as I'm entering the junction to see they're already off. Haven't bothered my arse to see if the settings can be changed.

I turn off indicator after i've done my manoeuvre. I always remember when i've left them on. I don't continually press it because my bikes don't have a push cancel.

I have only found myself left with the indicator on twice in my years of riding. I remember thinking at each one what a fool I looked and it obviously engrained.

The idiot lights are fairly bright and the indicators themselves are high up for me to see flashing.

No, but I seem to have looking at the speedo, checking the mirrors, doing a shoulder check OCD. Didn't realise how much I was doing it until I got a helmet cam', but its every few seconds (at least) Neutral

Speedo dial numbers on cbr600f4 (fx) are tiny so I barely check them. Seem to just know what speed I'm doing officer, and is always well within the legal limits.
