Long story short, chain snapped on my EXC 250, jammed itself into many places and took out my clutch slave cylinder. So upon removing old slave cylinder I've discovered more freaking damage! Chain has also eaten into ignition cover and the engine block itself! Need I be worried? Will a replacement cover work (with new gasket of course), or is there a more sinister problem going to slap me in the face?

P.S. Annoyed is an understatement!

Give it a run and see if it sprays oil everywhere. If not, winner. If so, lube up. A new cover isn't going to fix that if it's leaking. The chain has managed to strike right on the joining point and damaged both halves, so a new cover won't form a seal.

That is a very impressive picture though, especially compared to the regulation potato standard that we're used to.

Update...

It's leaking oil Sad Fixed everything, started it up and it spits oil out the hole. Taking it in to the garage tomorrow.

I agree with Paul, Plastic Metal stuff will sort that out with a bit of care.

What am I looking for?

Edit: Oh the post changed. No no new ignition cover, just the hole is plugged. Worth a punt to save the price of a new one, but if she blows then a new cover be it.

I wouldn't have wasted my time with some chemical metal stuff, I'd have had the case off and had it welded, and got a blob of weld stuck on the engine side too.

It would have been a more perm solution.
