The M5 is empty.

The sun is coming up and warming the air around my leathers.

I drop from 6th to 4th and pin it.

5th and 6th gears rattle through and the bike is at 11500 RPM.

Indicated 179MPH for 2 minutes.

I roll off the throttle, the bike backfires with appreciation.

Inside my helmet I am grinning like a loon. I thank the NHS for fixing my shoulder and carry on with my journey.

Today was a good day.

At the weekend, around tea time on the M25 I had a wasp inside walking around my face. The only fast riding I achieved was the exit to the hard shoulder and dancing like a spaz.

I've often wondered why people dance like that when they have a wasp in their helmet. I would have thought that calm and slow removal would be much less likely to initiate an attack than bouncing around like a spacehopper on steroids and screaming 'it's a wasp'

Wasps, unlike bees, will probably sting you no matter what, being the nasty evil b'stards they are.

I'm still waiting for "The Internet Police will see the OP's post and come round and nick him" reply.

Or even the classic "What if a small handicapped/blind/innocent child had been crossing the motorway when you were maliciously speeding within 30 miles of a school ?"

What's it like going that speed? I got up to 140mph (on private road Wink ) and started worrying about speed wobble / tank slapper.
