No Rolling Eyes

IF you don't want the one 125 that weighs the same as a 250 (and a heavy one at that), the other choices would be:

Derbi Terra - Same engine as the RS4, I knew a big bloke (tall/heavy) who had one, didn't have any issues with it.

Yamaha WR125 - expensive but probably the best 4-stroke learner supermoto.

' DT125 - 2-stroke, but if you find an 'X' (supermoto) ver. for anywhere near a grand buy it, they're only going up in value.

' TDR125 - I believe it has the same engine as the DT, I also believe they were all imported, but they've not quite reached the silly money of DT's (although they're getting there).

New 125? Old 125? Italian? Japanese? or Chinese?

What do you want to do with it? Distance work, commuting, fun? Does it need to be cheap to run and maintain? Are you good with the spanners?

A lot of variables involved!

The Varadero 125 is listed as having a 7mm higher seat than a CBR125. It's also suggested for shorter riders.

It will be less cramped to some degree.

You need to specify some of the aforementioned variables - what are you going to use it for, what's your budget and so on.

Varadero XL if you have some cash to splash. I'd go for a later model (last ones released in 2009 of the XL.) Thumbs Up

If you want to compare how cramped you may be on various bikes, i've found it rather accurrate.

I'm 6 foot 3 and I actually found the CG unbelievably comfortable though, my knees used to stick out like my avatar but comfort is comfort.

Dunno about that, for example they list the DT125x as having a 32" seat height, when its closer to 35. For me that's the difference between being able to put me feet down and falling over at traffic lights.

Every few years the recommendations change Smile Currently BCF says:
125 - Varadero
A2 bike - Restricted Fazer
Naked - Street triple
Sports - GSXR 750

Now someone f'ing sticky this! Very Happy

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Should be remembered that it will also depend on suspension and travel.

With extra height on the seat of my 690 it's tip toes on one side for me.
Loaded with luggage (no preload adjuster as stock) it's more reasonable - though I don't mind the tip toes.

That's true, and the DT does have a lot of suspension travel, but still I know these are bigger than 32 inches.

Also worth considering seat width (when it comes to tippy toes), there isn't that much difference between my MT-03 and XR despite the lower seat height.

Yep - sat on my 675 and a 636 at the weekend, the 636 felt a chunk taller.
It wasn't, just a wider seat, possibly even a bit lower seat height.

New or old, not fucking chinese.

With it being a 125 yeah I'd want it cheap to run and maintain, I'll be keeping this til it dies for cheap commuting.

Shite with spanners. Basically am one.

The varadero and derbi are the winners. Just to find what's cheapest.

I'm REALLY looking to find a 2nd hand bike, not too expensive ideally below 1k.

I had to ask, as my mind wonders easily onto fragile Italian exotica when someone says what 125 shall I buy?

If you said you wanted it to cost you a fortune in fuel, fully synthetic oil, and you wanted to be constantly changing sparkplugs and spanners deep into the engine more often than riding it, I'd have had a fair few suggestions on the tip of my tongue.
