Seem to have noticed every time i go on the m1 and sit at 50, every tom, dick and harry are over taking me, even lorries! Whether im in my car, on the bike or in works van. At first i thought my speedo was out but it cant be the case on all 3. Are they just a gimmick and dont actually work? Anyone been caught out by these? Baffles me!

Check your speedo against a gps! You will find your speedo reads around 10% higher than your actual speed.

I have heard a couple of reasons why, one is to prevent lible actions against car manufacturers over speeding tickets!

I get this feeling on the A406 & A40 sometimes. I get cars whizzing past me at 60-70 in those 40-50 zones and I'm there like da fuq :S

The A13 ASCs didn't seem to be enforced for ages after fitment, then I noticed cases start appearing on Pepipoo website. I still see cars doing 70 plus (50 limit) and just assume they have pinched the car so don't care.

The alarming rise in rear facing average speed cameras has meant having to grind through miles of road works at the same speed as the cars on my bike, which is a royal pain.

M1 has average speed cameras? I thought they were myself but then checked after and they're standard ones.

Yeah around sheffield, where they seem to have been doing roadworks for years. I wonder if they even work and what the limit of average speed of travelling through the 2 cameras is set at?

My daughter got done a while back on the M4 going through roadworks in the middle of the night at 74. So if they do work, they don't get turned off when no one is there.

U wot M8?

Libel is the written or broadcast form of defamation, distinguished from slander, which is oral defamation. It is a tort (civil wrong) making the person or entity (like a newspaper, magazine or political organization) open to a lawsuit for damages by the person who can prove the statement about him/her was a lie.

It's illegal to have an under-reading speedo so instead of manufacturer's aiming to have a 100% accurate speedometer, dial in some over-read and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a legal speedo + some safety margin if the rolling radius changes due to modification etc.

You see quiet often on a lot of ASC roads plates have mysteriously 'fallen off' or in the case of most of the vans coming up the A9 appear to have cow shit smeared all over them. Funny that.

Heard it or read it? Very Happy

The PoPo have 'guidelines' to determine wot is wot. This doesn't mean the Law is not the Law it only provides police to advise (or bollock) rather than issue a charge answerable at court which may incur fines/penalty points.
The guideline for England: Last advised by an Ex-PoPo working as a bouncer for the Scamera Partnership (A gov.com Racketeering organisation).
The 'report to magistrates' point is the posted speed limit +10% plus 1mph over the limit.
That doesn't mean it's a hard and fast rule as driving conditions have to be considered. e.g. Driving 'at the limit' in thick fog would probably be considered as dangerous driving.

So your Avg. Spd Cams 56mph would not win a penalty.
I set my cruise to read 56 on GPS and I've never had a bill from them.

Stay away from Scootchland as our fcuked up 'Interim' government has told 'PoPo Scootchland' to do folk for as little as 1mph over the posted limit.
Which only proves that Being Scootchish these days Sucks (Sooks). Sad
