Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the gudgeon pin (past and present) with the Honda CBR125R (I've got a 2012 model).

I would really appreciate it if you guys could let me know, this problem is causing me a complete engine replacement which Honda are trying to slam me with a £1800 bill with no help from customer services, even though the reason my engine has blown up is because of a manufacturing fault (Honda even agreed with this).

I have previously been told that this is a common manufacturing fault with this model but haven't found any forums about it.

Check out the image, this seems IMPOSSIBLE to happen especially in a reliable bike like the CBR. My bike is well maintained as agreed by an independent garage and my local Honda dealership. Still Honda refuses to help at all.

Cheers guys!

If you have bought this from a dealer and they/Honda gives you somekind of an warranty and it hasn't voided yet, then you should get a replacement for free.
If you don't have any warranty for the bike, I'd say you are out of luck and have to find a new engine from somewhere.

I think it varies between countries how this will go down, maybe you could try and contact your Consumer Protection Service and ask what they think of this and can they do something about this.

Definitely looks like a manufacturing fault. I've never seen an actual gudgeon pin snap in half like that.

They are made out of a steel alloy designed to withstand extreme temperatures and pressures. It's one of the most important parts of the engine that is heavily designed by engineers.

Personally I've only heard of problems with the cbr250 dropping valves.

I mean to ask are these engines manufactured in India now?

Wow, where did you buy this bike and how long/miles ago?

Get honda agreement with design/manufacture fault in writing!!

Honda customer service is real crap

If they have agreed that its a "honda" fault, then to stop any "bad press" ( bit late now! ) they will/should do summut to help.

legal road ( judge rinder?? ) expensive but you must have stuff in writing/proof/evidence.

trading standards????
