Hi everyone So as you can tell from the subject I'm new to biking with no prior experience and currently learning, felt confident and ready for my test having done 2 days of training and I cocked it up before I even got to the test center on Monday doing a bit of last minute practice emergency stop in a carpark a combination of lack of experience and harsh braking and wet white arrow sent me to the floor and sent the bikes sliding down the carpark ,sprained my wrist and done my back in but apart from that just laughed at how stupid I had been ,my question is to do with the bike I was using a Suzuki gs500 I bent the handlebars a tad and dented the tank but I also somehow damaged the forks because after the crash they kept bottoming out but there was no sign of oil leaks and the bike didn't hit anything as such just slid down the road so I can't work out why they would all of a sudden keep bottoming out any advice cos I think I'll have to pay for the damage ?

Calm down, breathe, use a full stop or two Smile

You're not the only one to crash right before a test... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl7Wq80rkbA

Not sure why the forks would bottom out, unless they've slipped down a tad in the yokes? I would have thought you'd be more likely to bend the forks or yokes and the bike be riding bent.

Well, you do or you don't.

If you do then it doesn't matter why it's damaged.

If you don't then it doesn't matter if it's damaged.

I hope this helps.

Sort of want a custard test.

Test nerves can be distracting, I dropped the bike on my Mod 1 practice run and there was no rain or white paint, just derp.
Yet I've been riding pretty much every day without incident in all weather for 5 years(ish) now.
For the record the instructor just laughed at me then asked if I was OK (it helped take some of the pressure off tbh)

On the plus side GS500 parts aren't overly expensive in the grand scheme of things.
