.. and their bikes.

I see a lot of them on autotrader, new bikes 1 or 2 miles and 2k-3k off the list price. Are Benelli sinking? are their bikes shit / mediocre / awesome?

Parts a problem?

Tell me all you know..

Chinese crap, innit.

No, really, they're Qianjiangs now, and imported by MotoGB along with a smorgasbord of other random brands.

As with any off-brand, you'll want to look at insurance and most of all parts. I don't mean ask if parts would be available ("Sure mate, no problem, no worries, all next day, legit, let's talk finance..."), actually find out where you can get specific parts, for real, in stock, today. Filters, pads, sprockets at a bare minimum. Exhausts, tensioners, brake/gearshift levers and plastics if you're thinking a bit further ahead, or a bit droppier.

You'll struggle to find a buyer, so I'd consider one a sunk cost.

check out mcn next week, they're about to launch a 750 twin and a 900 triple afaik that virtually no-one will buy

the tornado was nice, but had a couple of lingering problems like clocks and the company owners had no money to replace the faulty parts and new bikes once £12000 were eventually sold for £6000

and some of the scooters had yamaha engines, with stickers over the yamaha on the belt covers

Don't bother.

Uncompetitive performance, unreliable engines, limited parts availability, very hefty depreciation.

£1500 on a ZX9 and a bit of change on some uprated parts.
Or just get an R1?

If only the fans contra-rotated.
But alas they're ruined the one inspired bit.

They were, now they're Chinese owned and churning out meh bikes. Their 300cc A2 bike is 185kg. Dry.

And you can tell that they're Chinese owned because they've just churned out a blatant MSX 125 rip off.

They're not expensive, but given the paucity of dealers, parts concerns, and that they might just throw in the towel at any time, I can't see any particular reason to buy one unless you really, really want that badge.

Was the Yamaha sticker covering a Jianshe one? Whistle

i remember looking at a benelli, a TNT or something like that, quite liked the styling at the time but as OP said the price was crazy cheap and so after a bit of research it was widely regarded as not a wise choice.

There was also the LE version that came out first (Ohlins suspension, single seat, CF bodywork, etc) which were over £20k new

All the best

They look lovely, well the Tornado does but they have a worse reputation than anything in the big bike sector.

I really want one, I think they are one of the prettiest sports bikes ever made but..........................

My mate's brother's got one of them - he just had a six into six system made for it. Looks ace - but he;s a bit miffed cos it's now quieter than the previous pipes (which iirc was 6 into 2).

Probably a 900 if it's a 6-2 pipe originally.

Cool looking motorcycles any which way, and they have always supposed to be the best of the six's to ride and have the best handling.

Unfortunately the 750sei is nearly 550cc down on the only six shooter I'd let in my garage to get my sweaty palms all over! Laughing

You're right - pretty sure it is a 900 now that you mention it.

nah, actually it was about 12 years ago, the K2 100cc, you could literally peel back the benelli badge on the belt cover and it was covering 'yamaha' cast into the cover, pretty sure they were aerox engines

If I remember correctly the 900 had the clocks on the tank not the handlebars.
