I got this 'thing' in a smal box of bits and it looks kind of familiar
but buggered if I know what it is
Not sure/doubt its a motorcycle part
It looks pretty old and measures more imperial than metric
which sort of confirms it

Anyone recognise it?

I think its a part off a dial test indicator thats used for run-out testing , its the part that holds the dial which is clamped to it.

It reminds me of a clutch centering tool
BUT
its a biut small and why the groove?
thats suggests a detent of some kind like you'd find on a locking pin

ferked if I know, I cant ask the guiy who gave it to me as he's the village idiot/ skip diver who cant even count his own small change.

It's a 10mm combination spanner egg.

They breed with a 5mm allen key, lay one of those things that will eventually hatch into another 10mm spanner then shed their skin and become an 11mm spanner.

You keep them in a toolbox for a bit while they mature then throw them out because there is no apparent use for them. A bit like peach stones. It's just how they reproduce.
